Just looked at the local paper

apparently I will have to go out and buy a generator and snow blower and stock up on bottled water and gas and canned food in order to last through the terrible snow and other weather that is coming for us

AKA - look like it'll be a bit chilly and will rain with 17 flakes of snow on Sunday

It'll be worse in the hills so the Echo base their predictions on the highest part of the local area so they can make it as dramatic as possible
we are pretty much at sea level here so the chances are noticeable snow are pretty much nil!

Having said which - when a new Head started at the school in Rhyl where I taught she asked about snow procedures and she was given a detailed folder and told to ignore it as they hadn't had to close for snow in living memory
The next day she had to close the school due to snow and the LEA wouldn't let her open it for TWO WEEKS!!!!
(Teacher still had to come in after the first 2 days though - school was lovely for those 2 weeks!!)

The media don’t half like to dramatise everything these days. When I think back to what we used to cope with. No wonder it’s the snowflake society!

I see on FB ( if you can believe it ) that many EV drivers were queuing up on motorway services to charge up their cars when the rush was on after Christmas to get back home. Stick to your petrol/diesel car I say.

Or charge away from motorway services, there are plenty of alternatives and my car tells me which ones are not busy. We are currently in Devon on holiday, first time on holiday in an EV. It’s been no hassle at all.

My money went into better paying alternatives.

I am 100% with you on this.

PB's work for a minority and not for the majority plus, in general, people remember the months they win more than the months they lose.

Maybe, you are the same as us, our investment returns track well above the NS&I notional return rate.

We dumped our PB's ages back.

The problem with that is if you earn interest, the Liemore party will take a Chunk of it from you. I'd rather not give them the opportunity to take even more money from me than they already have.

Even at your own cost?

Also, not entirely tax free, they are subject to tax when inheritance tax thresholds are breached.*

*Apologies for the pedantry.

There's plenty of ways to not pay tax on savings, £20k each year into a cash or S+S ISA and take the interest ( or dividends) tax free. The first £1000 of interest is already tax free.
