Off to a Christmas dinner this afternoon

Yes - I know!!!

anyway - it is for a group that I was volunteering with earlier in the year but which stopped because no-one turned up
I want to keep contact in case anything else turns up

problem is that it is in the centre of Liverpool - thought it might be best to use public transport

but to do so would take 3 times as long as driving and in the predicted weather not sure it is going to happen

also - the quickest route involves a bus ride in totally the wrong direction for 30 minutes to get to a faster train route

on top of which all route involve at leat 30 minutes walk - mostly at the start because our road - which is a main local route into Widnes - only has a single bus route that runs once an hours - and only at busy times!!!

It would actually be faster to ride a bike than get a train - unless I got a taxi to the train station!
(zero chance of parkign a tthe train station - the car parks are always crammed as are the nearby roads!

Getting overcast now. I nipped out for a quick 20 minute walk before the forecasted rain arrives around 1.

If we lived in a country with an integrated transport system, you could cycle to the railway station, park your bicycle (free, and safely), then, get the train to your destination..... 🙂

Well- the cysling to the station is a possibility

but
a) it is p*****g down and will continue to do so all afternoon
and
b) there are "secure cycle lockers" at the station . I have checked them out a few times and they are battered and most were broken last time I looked
one of the others was empty but had a heavy looking lock on it - presumably someone has "reserved it"
so basically the only place to lock a bike would be a fence of some kind
and as it is an ebike I don;t fancy doing that - OK I would take the battery with me but all the same.........
COule take the bike into Liverpool - but then what??
and that is only if I want to chance being allowed to put it on the train - especially as I might be coming back at rush hour (ish)

if it was summer I would walk to the station (30 minutes or so) but not in this weather when I am meeting up with a bunch of people I don;t know
I have enough problem with people as it is - I need to feel confident and not be wondering if I smell damp or sweaty!!
