Good morning all, nothing planned today but yesterday we had an enjoyable day out in Dundee on the train. The line goes across the Forth Bridge of course then gives fabulous views across the Forth as it runs along the Fife coast for several miles. And then more fabulous views as it crosses the Tay to reach Dundee. Having alighted, our first stop was the V&A Museum on the waterfront just next to the station, lots of interesting design exhibits including, I was surprised to see, a Movistar skinsuit by Endura, dating back to Alex Dowsett’s hour record. We found that the V&A also has a fabulous cafe, great food and great views. We’d go back if only for the cafe alone. We then walked next door to the RRS Discovery and its museum, telling the story of Captain Scott’s first antarctic expedition, the one where they were trapped in the ice for two years (!) but eventually made it back. A fascinating visit. That just left time for a short wander along the waterfront and around some of the shopping streets before the 15:10 train back to Waverley, nicely timed for spectacular views of the sunset across the Forth. We discovered that there is plenty more to see there so we will definitely be making further visits.
