First post MI ride today. Just 5.7 miles but it’s a start. 4.5 mile walk this morning too. Starting to feel human again

We don't use our GP practice much at all apart from routine jabs and annual MOT.

But, having been 'bugged' for about a month I thought I would get in to see what was occurring so...

... in days of yor you would phone and get an appointment to see your doctor, you remember them - they knew you, you knew them, etc. They looked after your whole family.

And then the Great Pandy came and GP's went into hiding and didn't really emerge even after Covid died down.

The service was replaced by over the phone triage and prescription if necessary on the couple of times we used it. Seemed to work okay.

So, I tried to make an appointment, expecting the above, but no, you now need to fill out a triage form via a link sent to you via mobile. Upon receipt by the surgery they will decide on your 'urgency' and take things from there.

So, yesterday, I made time to complete the form but... you cannot access the form outside of the opening hours of the surgery!

A serious FFS for this absolute nonsense. :cursing:

Ours goes one stage further. “No more PATCHS slots are available today. Please try again in the morning” which can be the response by early afternoon.

That seems a real pain . Nothing like that happens at my surgery these days . They were running a triage system pre and during Covid . But these days it seems to gone back to the old system. A limited number of appointments available on the day from 8.30, first come first served. The rest to booked normally. You can normally get a phone appointment in 2/3 days and a face to face one in 7/8 days . The only problem is if you want a particular doctor,in which case it might take 2 to 3 weeks .

Nothing like that at my scurgery. As @Exlaser2 says I'd you need a particular GP it could take a couple of weeks, but if you need an emergency appointment you can normally be seen on that day by one of the Doctors on duty, or the practice Nurse if not too serious.

How does one achieve “registered carer” status?

You become someone’s registered carer.

You have to be a carer, obviously.

And then inform your GP. If you meet the criteria you're then registered with the NHS as a carer and receive a degree of preferential treatment with appointments etc besause if you're out of action the state has to take over, and that's very spendy.

Stayed fine all day here though a bit cooler than of late.
Good turnout for the White Horse bike meeting - there were three Bantams there, which created much interest. MrsD got home with a big smile after a thoroughly pleasant thrash back on her D7. I had to ride hard to keep up!
