I can remember as a kid 50 years ago flying from Shetland to Iceland with my Dad in a DC3! If memory serves it was a military airfield at Keflavic we landed at.

Yes, one of the most impressive aspects of the DC-3 compared to its contemporaries (and successors) was/is its phenomenal range.

I had the pleasure of flying several times on one of the last airlines to operate it on scheduled services between San Juan and Tortola while we tried to persuade the airline (Air BVI) to replace them with a more modern British-built type (but not just yet, please!)

Bugger, just heard the distant roar of a probable Merlin, looked out, couldn't see anything. ADSB tells me it was a P51 Mustang. I've never actually seen one, shame.

Written several hours ago but omitted to press 'post', so ouy of date now but... Busy out there, warbirds spreading their wings.
Just caught sight of two Spitfires, G-PBIX and G-RYIX in close formation over the South of Peterborough. They seem to be over the Fens ATM headed toward Chatteris according to ADSB

Walking the dog an hour ago, Hurricane flew SW of Peterborough
On another note, Saturday afternoon we were round daughters having a barbecue, looked up to see 3, 4 maybe 5 aircraft, very high, quite distant, headed west to east, each leaving multiple contrails (couldn't even see the aircraft, just the contrails) Opened ADSB...nothing, not registering on there so almost certainly US military .

Air Chathams in NZ have a DC 3, mostly used on charter and scenic flights. Flew on it a few years ago.
When I did care work, my first client flew DC3s in the RAF in WW2. His last mission before discharge was to fly one back to the UK from Australia. It took about a fortnight...

First flight today since early 2020. Arrived on the beach today in a DHC-6 twin otter.

I see the two of them (I think there are 2 anyway) fly over my house all the time as I am near to Glasgow.

That said, I don't want to unsettle, but I had a dream the other night there where I witnessed one crash - The left wing fell off and it banked steeply to the left and into a local petrol station.

... You are welcome! 😆

No, never watched it. This was flying over a small place called Milton, just outside of Dumbarton, it was also going very slowly and the remaining engine sounded terrible. Also, it was very very low.
I think the pilot was trying to land on the A82, but the wing put paid to that!

There are indeed two. G-HIAL in the last image and G-SGTS pictured at Glasgow this morning.
