Not a size 12 , 46 = size 11 . ^_^

They were still too big though. As I put my left foot in, my heel was an inch away from the back of the shoe.

Autumn is here. :rain:I feel the need to buy an orange, gold, brown, green, autumnal colours hat. This one has what it takes...I think. 🤔

The olive green one is also a consideration, seeing as I don't have a sensible shade, green hat.🧐

They could've been (another ) bargain of the year so far, but these probably 1980's Bally loafers for sale for £50 in the retro clothing shop are size 12. I'm size 10. Similar Bally loafers are priced at around £600 these days. Would I pay £600 for a pair of loafers, no matter how 'designer' they are? No, I would not! After the novelty wears off in a few weeks they just become another pair of 'which ones shall I wear today' shoes.

Nah, loafers are fine for carpet slippers but not proper shoes. Proper brogues, semi-brogues or oxfords are what you want. And anyway aren't Bally a "designer brand" rather than a proper Northampton shoemaker like Loake or my own favourite, Crockett & Jones

Church's all the way. I still have the pair I bought (half price sale, as I'm a Yorkshireman) after a bonus at work in the mid 90's.

I have never owned a pair of Church's. They always seemed a bit pricey for what they are, and not even leather lined in many cases. But to be fair I've not actually owned a pair

Even £200 Loakes are leather lined, and are terrific value. I do like my Crockett's though. Only one pair from their Jermyn St shop, albeit in a sale nearly 30 years ago, and the rest secondhand or seconds from the 'bay. My cheapest was a well used pair of smart semi-brogues for thirty notes. Saw same pair in their shop for north of £500! Best value was a £130 brand new seconds, again £500+ full whack. Not so many bargains these days sadly, albeit I've enough in stock to see me out. Mrs PP has called me "Imelda" on occasion !

I’ve got a pair of Crockett and Jones suede Chukka boots, bought them from Burlington Arcade a few years ago on a whim but I love them.

I'm steering away from shoes and boots. I have more than enough pairs. I haven't bought a new pair of shoes for nearly a year, when I bought 2 pairs from this local firm. https://lanxshoes.com/collections/w...oogle&tw_adid=&tw_campaign=20375367342&gad=1& Though I did get a pair from the retro clothing shop I work in the other week, which after many polishings and scuff removing etc look quite tidy, I must say. I didn't buy them, with the owner saying "here take them. If you can make them look good, you can keep them" I did, so he let me have them for nothing. Anyway, my 'thing' now is fedora hats! So far I have about 10. I'm thinking about buying another Borsalino to add to the light tan one I bought earlier this year, but do I want to be spending around 300 quid for a hat that's more 'designer' than quality! Having said that the Borsalino fedora I have does get quite a few compliments. 🤔

Crockett's yes, but suede !!!

Suede, mmm. 🤔 They never look as formal as polished leather and are a pain to keep stain, scuff free, simply because you can't do much to remedy it when they get those stains and scuffs, unlike polished shoes which you can er polish...obviously. In fact I've found that the more you try to remove stains and scuffs from suede shoes, the more they become stained and scuffed!
