Agree with Fedora, or maybe go Pork pie hat. Bring out your inner two tone

A Homburg ,perhaps?
But it does depend on your style of dress I suppose, I have a variety of hats I wear, but none of them formal, as I don't dress formally,

Well if it's mainly to keep the rain off the deaf-aids then maybe a souwester?

Only half joking as I have considered buying one, but more for hillwalking and such as wearing it to the shops might look a bit silly

On a more serious suggestion I too like the recommendations of a pork pie hat (which I'm half tempted to get myself) whether Thelonius Monk jazzman style or the two tone ska small trilby style . Not so keen on old-man trilbies. The Homburg idea is good too, and much more cool than a fedora.

I used to cycle to school wearing a yellow sou’wester and cape in the early ‘60s

My last day at work , this, French colonial pith helmet ,arrived just in time before I left for home, I always fancied one , so ordered one, actually it's very usefull, with that wide brim , cork lined , fill it and soak it in water it keeps your head cool, your lugs ,face and nape of the neck shaded, acts as a bump hat, and keeps umbrellas out of your eyes!
Only thing is it's bloody useless cycling wind gets under it and it comes off!
