I'm not sure about that. It might irritate other fans but there can be no doubt the world knows United as United.

No, I'm not having that. You've got Newcastle and Blades fans from Sheffield who'd disagree there for a start. When we had the Salford Apologists singing 'there's only one Yernighted' at our games against them, we'd sing back 'and that's a chocolate biscuit' relating to the famous big-selling chocolate biscuit at the time.

OK. OK. I just think it's a fact, most football fans immediately think of United no matter how much it upsets other clubs. That's my only point. I dislike United as much as the next man. Afraid I don't get the Salford remark nor the chocolate biscuit one, but then I don't follow non-league other than Chorley's results. Salford are Salford City.

Old Trafford is adjacent to Salford.

I think some people actually believe (wrongly) that Salford is where it is located.

And there used to be a chocolate biscuit (similar to penguin/club etc) called "United".

More good news this weekend, none of the teams above Villa managed to win. However Newcastle UNITED have two games in hand and only one point behind, so highly likely to leapfrog us.

The naming thing has always interested me. There are several sides which I think of before Blackburn Rovers, I guess it just comes down to where you started being a football fan/where your loyalties lie.

Well you just have to be old enough to remember these then! They were very popular chocolate biscuits in the 80s/90s but for some reason aren't made any more. As for the Salford one, they don't play in Manchester (unless they have a derby match) do they and aren't 'united' as they didn't unite the city.

Did Manchester United unite the SE? 😉
