Killie have been drawn away at Celtic in the Scottish Cup. We'd probably have had to play them either on the way to, or in the final so getting them out of the way early is a good thing.

At least it isn't Dundee who we seem to play every other week.

I don't know if either of you can see this Facebook page, so If you can't I've posted the photos (and words), possibly taken by this local professional photographer from Accrington who's taken countless photos of events in Accrington and surrounding towns and events connected to Accrington and surrounding towns, over many decades.

'Congratulations to Accrington Stanley being drawn against Liverpool in FA Cup 3rd round. They played Liverpool in January 1956 also. Recognise anyone'?

Sadly there won't be many, if any of those people still alive. I am an old fart but was only 9 years old then.

Yes, it was in 1956, which come our 3rd round meeting will be 69 years since that game. If say the average age of those in the crowd that day was 30, then most will be looking forward to their 100th birthday in a year's time IF they are still here!

Accy, I was just reading that the kid who said the famous phrase "Accrington Stanley, who are they?" was jailed for a minimum 18 years in 2023.
Right, the penny's just dropped! A friend's just messaged me to tell me the one doing 18 years for murder isn't the main character in the advert, it's the one you see (you did mention it, which went right over my head ) for a second or so right at the start, who at the end says those words "Accrington Stanley, who are they"!! I thought the main character didn't appear the murderer type, thinking back to his promotional appearances at Stanley home games quite a few years ago. Now I know!!

That must have passed me by.
It seems rather a harsh sentence for not knowing - but, i suppose in these days of inclusivity

I was lucky enough to watch the second half of our capitulation against Rangers last night. That's easily the worst I've seen us play, and against a very poor Rangers team who almost looked apologetic every time they scored because it was so easy.

There are always highs and lows in football, and you get a lot of that with Killie. That result ranks down there with getting scudded 5 - 1 by Hibs in the 2007 League Cup final, and our whimpering relegation against (you guessed it) Dundee in 2001.

Brilliant highs though, the Scottish Cup win of 1997 and League Cup win in 2012. Oh and battering Dunfermline 6 - 0 away on my dad's birthday in 1999.

In more pleasing news for the "big" English side I follow by accident of geography, it sounds like Newcastle's game against Liverpool was a belter.

I particularly like the use of "Nile ranger" in Biffa's write up, which can be enjoyed here:

I see the Everton Vs Lpool lunchtime game is still on despite the storm.
It's on tv. I am putting a loaf on to bake. I have plenty of various cheeses and my Bro is bringing the beers.
Come on you red men.
EDIT
the match has been called off
And my bread is baking, b*gger
