Whatever was so wrong with the Man U equaliser the City defender that slowed down expecting Rashford to be given off side committed the sin of not playing to the whistle.

Yes, schoolboy error.

Man Utd 2 Man City 1. I don't support either team.

This whole VAR thing is a complete and utter waste of everyone's time and money. Simply demonstrates the joke the PL has become. Rent a skip and chuck it in there.

Bill Shankly:

"If a player is not interfering with play or seeking to gain an advantage, then he should be."

The issue there wasn't really VAR though, it was the current interpretation of the offside rule.

Over the last few years they have gradually tightened up on the definition of "interfering with play" to the point where you get farcial decisions like that, which are technically correct by the current definition, but hardly anybody accepts that it was reasonable.

In that circumstance, where he was moving towards the ball, getting that close to it, opponent's are obviously expecting him to play it and react accordingly. How that is not interfering with play is beyond most reasonable people.

I'll put my hand up and say you are right, on a different day, who knows? I'll even admit we have had a good run of luck with other results going our way since beating Fulham mid November. Spurs and Newcastle have dropped a fair few points, which might carry on today?

Not the former it’s looking like.
The latter, most hopefully!

Well, we ground that out against a yellow card accumulating Palace.

Excellent signing today in Mudryk. Him and Felix plus Badiashile who had a good first game for us today will bolster the squad.

And once the 9 senior players who are injured are fit to play we could well have a reasonable end to the season.

Now needing Potter to step up.

As a neutral it seemed like very clever play from rashford.
As a city supporter I would be very cross.

It could develop as a sneaky tactic in future. One, or possibly two, players running fast at a defence in a deliberately offside position to distract some defenders while a third hangs slightly back hoping that defence gaps open up.

Cracking semi final at Hampden today, at one point it was like the Skol cups back in the 80's. Obviously I'm delighted that Rangers went through but they are far from the team they were last season and I'm really hopeful of the promised new faces in time for the final next month. Only down side was Roofe's injury, especially as he is just coming back after months away.

I've already seen similar goals this season, but not as close as Rashford was to Bruno. These high speed breaks must be tough for linesmen/refs who are often 5-10 yards behind the line by the 18 yard box.
They could change the rules to say its a free kick passing to a clearly off side player, even if they don't touch the ball, but it would stifle the game? Didn't it used to be like that?

The linesman called it correctly, nothing to do with not keeping up with play. He was overrruled by the ref, who decided, incomprehensibly, that Rashford was not interfering with play.

Rashford was interfering, running with the ball at his feet. Both defenders and keeper had to change how they responded to Bruno because of the presence of Rashford.

If Rashford stopped, no problem.

He was offside. The rules don't need to change. The ref was just completely wrong.

It used to be, that as soon as the player made a move towards the ball, he was deemed offside…it should have stayed that way. Next time a keeper is coming out and going straight through man and ball, breaking a players leg, then they will change the laws back to how it should be. If your offside and you make a move towards the ball, up goes the flag.
