I am quite prepared to accept your argument and that there is a benefit, if you are wearing a helmet

Now all we need is an explanation why a pedestrian hitting their skull on the tarmac does not have he same benefit, and therefore the same justification for wearing one

As an occasional helmet wearer perhaps you can assist in the justification ? Do you wear one when walking ?

It's a bit more complicated than that...
and yet its a sad state of affairs that you have been told on two occasions to stop posting on the thread for simply airing your views in a quite respectful way.
Perhaps you'd like to recalibrate your view of respect?

This, to pick something more or less at random:
I'm honestly gobsmacked you cannot see any benifit between hitting your scull against the tarmac with a helmet on?.

I'd quite happily replicate it multiple times with one on, but don't fancy the stiches/ scar again with it off..
is quite a long way from respectful.

I wear a helmet to save injury to my eardrums, my wife's not going to be debating this subject and is convinced that not wearing is dangerous. I'm interested in both camps' points, but at the end of the day she feels better and worries less when I'm wearing and for me that's reason enough.

My wife was the same when I stopped wearing a helmet to commute. I gave her my reasoning and the evidence it was based on and she's left me to it ever since as she now understands the situation more clearly.

It is a shame really but I have relatively thick skin when it comes to internet forums, thanks for the post though!, much appreciated .

Perhaps you need to have been involved in all 278 pages....

Its thanks to people being offended by such words as 'gobsmacked' that I haven't :okay:

I make individual decisions as to risk of the activity.......and the quick answer is that if the risk is sufficient then yes I do

Which brings us back to the original statement that was questioned........ does the "gobsmackedness" apply to pedestrians that cannot see the benefit
