On the plus side, and it's surprised a long in the tooth sceptic....elves on shelves.
Granddaughters 4 and 8, took them Into town to spend a bit of pocket money. 8yo saw the elf on a shelf....I want one
So they both have one now.
But they love them, even the 8 yo seems to really buy into it, mustn't handle them or they else some of their magic powers , place them carefully at night to see where they are in the morning etc etc.
Tbf, the pleasure they're getting is fantastic....

I've just topped up my jar of brandied fruits, as I noticed there was only a tablespoon or so left in the bottom. Have added sultanas, mixed peel, dried cranberries and Tesco's "Island Mix" which consists of sultanas, raisins, pineapple and papaya, and then poured a bit of brandy over.

It's somewhat like German rumtopf i.e. fruit soaked in booze.
I like to add a tablespoon or two into an apple pie or crumble to posh it up some. Though at Christmastime, some of it usually manages to sneak in to the traditional Christmas Eve fruit compote.
Although I suppose it would also be wonderful spooned over some really good vanilla ice cream, but being teetotal, I'm likely to faceplant in my dessert before I've even finished it LOL!
