I dunno about you fine folk, but if there's anything I want or need I just go and get it. That being the case I tell the family not to bother buying among the adults and just buy for the kids.

Early eighties I saw Slade at the Rank in Reading, just a few days before Xmas.
You can guess what they played at the end, but the icing on the cake was it had snowed outside during the concert, unbeknownst to us.
As we left we got the perfect seasonal display, something I'll never forget.

2003, I was out on foot patrol in my tit hat and bumped into Noddy Holder walking through Kingsley in Northampton of all places. Had a brief chat, nice fellow.

In my distillery days we gave out bottles of whisky tailored to the importance of the recipient to our business.
The local fire station got a full case delivered and the two nearest police stations got a case each. Local tradesmen got one or two bottles depending on what they had done for us
In return I did quite well as suppliers gave me presents depending on how much we had spent with them.

Same here, and considering the good old British weather we've been having all that flimsy plastic and cloth now looks like it's been attacked by an angry poltergeist.

Oh, and never get involved in the secret santa.
After I'd had an op to screw my elbow back together I got dumped in rhe force control room for a spell.
Coming up to Christmas there was a secret santa thing going on, but not really knowing anyone I politely declined.
Well, one of the female staff received a dildo and there was a huge inquisition to try and identify the sender and I was the only person on the entire shift that wasn't under suspicion. Lesson learned.

We're trying to do the same, have been for years. But my sister always ruins it by spending loads on us adults. I have tried to limit it to £20 for her and BIL, and spend £25-30 on my niece. But sister doesn't get the message. She's just naturally generous towards family and it shows the rest of us up!
