Since the last Bkool update I've really struggled going uphill and most people seem to whizz past me.:bicycle:
Last night was the first time ever on Bkool I had to climb getting out of the saddle.:surrender:
(Summer Cup Milan San remo)
The problem is that once I'm out of the saddle the wheel slips and and my speed decreases even more loosing me more time.:banghead:

Question: Does anyone else climb in virtual Bkool world out of the saddle and do you get the same effect as myself.
I remember Bridgy saying he was climbing this way on a recent post.
I
I get out of the saddle on short steep sections, as too idle to change down gear, but I also get tyre slip. On the 12% section of the long SC ride every ghost shot past me on that section even though I was working hard. Once over the brow I easily caught and passed them again. Seems the latest update has tweaked hill climbing.

An easy question, with a complicated yet simple, answer.

What is the winning time going to be on today's irl Vuelta TT stage? No prizes, Just kudos for getting is right or being nearest.

I'll start.

Winners time will be 52m 37s. No idea who'll win though.
51:23 Froome to win and extend his lead

Since hills are now harder I will need to think about changing things.
Replace the 9 cassette to a 10 with a better ratio for climbing.
Change the tyre to allow me to get out of the saddle.
Raise the front wheel to put more pressure on the back wheel.
Or...........
Buy a direct drive trainer to an elite and happy days:wahhey:

"Bkool watts" are determined by the speed rather than the other way round. The reason the speed is too high is the resistance being applied is not high enough - which means you can go faster than you should, and which in turn makes Bkool think you're doing higher watts than you are. You may actually be turning the rear wheel at the speed being shown on the screen, and in theory it should take the amount of watts being shown on the screen for a rider of your weight to achieve that speed. However, because the resistance isn't as high as it should be, the speed you're able to actually achieve is too high, and as a result the watts are as well by default.

So in short answer to your question, yes the watts show as lower too - because it seems to be applying more resistance on some uphill gradients than before which = slower speed , and therefore = lower watts. (Hope that all makes sense!)

When I tried Zwift the first thing I noticed was the resistance applied for even the flat was higher, and the speed slower as a result - which for the same reason as above, meant the calculated watts were lower - and almost certainly more realistic.

I think Paul is right. I could just about spin 50/12 or even 50/11 on the flat on my bkool pro in bsim and even in zwift but struggle to hit cadence of 80 on the NEO now except in a short all out sprint. Wimpy legs perhaps.
I am intrigued by the power drop with the update. I am pretty tied up with the ZA training for next 6 weeks and then some online racing in november but may take a peak at bsim after that. In fact i will challenge bkool to give me a free month to try it out again and see what they say. I am sure you will ALL be overjoyed to see me back in the fray

Looks like we were too pesimistic. With 2 in, the leader is on 51'34.

Whilst I don't want to put you off and would be DELIGHTED to see you back on Bkool Bob, I wouldn't get too excited about the changes - I still show much higher watts overall on Bkool compared to the overall watts I found on Zwift on similar terrain. Which suggests that while the uphill gradients do seem to have changed a bit, the resistance/speed/watts on the flat is still more generous than Zwift (and real life!)

I know exactly what you're saying. I did the first chain gang ride this morning and didn't save it because it was so slow. I have to stand often, but don't slip because I weigh a lot. I can give further advice for putting on weight if you'd like.
