cheers for helping me up the 1st climb ive had a few good weeks in the SC did a good warm in the dome aaac set the pace nicely for me
shouldn't u be taking the med morning and evening regardless of cycling or not
the brown inhaler yes (although I forgot a few times recently , one of which was last night :banghead:) . I have the tablets too which I only take on exercise days and I wonder if there is a cumulative effect which I've lost this past 3 weeks. Chest not great anyway for some reason but could just be one of those days I guess. Still, 3 weeks off the bike and I was quite pleased with that ride

They're going to struggle to beat that AAAC. I don't know if your recce on Tuesday would have helped but probably the right speed to be a decent workout for you. I noticed that you did a few km of the CG ride afterwards and if you had finished it and beaten my time that would have been rather cheeky. :giggle:

It was an excellent preview thanks Bill.
It gave me a good idea of the climbs and when to go for it.

I broke up my effort as follows:
1. As always use the start line sling, if you have warmed up well you can get a real benefit from it.
2. Knowing the tough Cipressa climb was coming I did not go mad into the foot of it.
3. Once on the Cipressa proper I found a cadence and power that was close to threshold and set the top of the first climb as and intermediate target knowing there was an equally good descent the other side.
4. I aimed to power over the crest until my descending speed maxed (something I missed on the Poggio).
While I was on the Cipressa two guys absolutely shot by at an unbelievable speed so I resisted any attempt to try and follow
Then another guy shot by (Esaro) and I let him go as well (turns out he was hitting 900 watts or so on the climb)

5. Descending the Cipressa was rest time but I kept enough power on to keep it all ticking over.
6. Once the 'flat' between the two climbs started I put on the power again with Esaro as my carrot.
7. It wasn't long before I caught him and I pushed by to try and stop him tagging on but he appeared to make no effort to do so.
8. Knowing how quickly he climbed he spurred me on to gap him before I hit the Poggio.
9. Once I hit the Poggio my plan was as that for the Cipressa.
10. As I neared the top of the Poggio (hanging out) Esaro was catching me so I lifted my power to my threshold because I didn't want him to get on my wheel.
11. This was probably the reason why I missed powering over the crest into the climb, because I was bushed.
12. As I descended the Poggio, taking care on the corners, I kept and eye on Esaro's progress. Luckily he seemed to be loosing to me steadily. Had he caught me I had nothing at this point to chase onto his wheel.
13. As the final drag started and it was all hands, and legs, to the pump and I managed to do the last 2 km at threshold again.
14. There was a point where I was going to back off but I noticed Jacobs name appear in the top right corner so I thought there was no way I was going to show weakness when he was watching and that just what I needed physiologically to turn myself inside out.

All in all, other than having a drafting budy my opponents and spectators where all in the right place at the right time.
If Esaro had have been able to TTT with me in the middle he would have left me behind on the climb and I would not have climbed the Poggio so well and Jacob tuning in when he did was pretty much perfect timing.
The two guys who shot off ahead of me (one of them 7 minutes quicker) are not registering in my Session results, not sure why but I would love to see their stats.

Just the two of us today. Wolfie was hanging on pretty well and not making it easy to pull away from him.
Yep it was a bit lonely out there tonight and not without it's problems from my end.

I thought you were going to be on your own as my turbo lost power shortly after I joined the warm up. This used to happen every ride just before I went on my 3 week holiday. I intended to get in touch with our friends at Bkool when I got back from my jollies, but it hasn't happened in the 7 weeks since - until tonight.

I can usually get it back on by poking a cocktail stick in what looks like a reset hole next to the green power led. So after a mad furtle in the kitchen drawer for the little wooden poker, I was just about ready in time for the off.

Unfortunately I lost turbo power twice during the ride so I lost about 2.5 minutes, but I did manage to complete. My ride will need approving as there is a little red cross against Low Velocity.

I have been running the turbo with the top cover off since the problem started, as I thought it might be an intermittent heat problem, as it used to occur about 20 minutes into a ride.

However tonight it happened shortly after I powered the turbo on, so it could possibly be a dry joint on the logic board

I don't suppose anyone has had a similar issue?

Almost forgot.
It's a shame your session times out if you stop pedalling otherwise I would have got off when I was going down the Cipressa and opened the patio doors.
My core temperature only dropped to normal again about a half hour ago.

I'm on my second pro and have never had any of the hardware problems that get reported here. The only problem I've had with the trainer was a worn worm gear on the stepper shaft so it. couldn't find home. That's why I got the new one. Maybe they sell a different unit in the states.

You can make out the cycle chatters below and Bridgy should join the queue when he does SC6
He is the top of the list of those who have only done 5 and is 57 minutes down and the slowest SC6 time is 48:28
When are you going to have a go Bridgy, do you want a tow?

Apologies to the squeamish amongst you! yes those are my big toes. It's fair to say they have taken some abuse over the years....

But I had to post up this pick as I've hit a target I've been aiming at for a far while! 80kg baby!!! :wahhey:

I could prob shave of a bit more body hair to dip below 80 but with this crappy summer we're having I better not! Game of Thrones aint the only place where winters come early...

I had to post this up now ad I've got a weekend of drinking and eating cr@p ahead of me, so this may be as good as it ever gets!

Very impressive Tommy given you're tall as a tree

Have you noticed any drop in power yet? Saying that you're still a youngster.

Cheers mate. It's worth sticking around here just to be called a youngster once in a while! ^_^

I'm not 100% how it's efected power to be honest but most of the weight I've lost is from around my middle do long term it can only improve me. None of my rides are particulary structured at the moment so it's hard to judge how it's effected me short term. And I'm juggling a couple of little projects so tiredness varies day to day. I did notice my energy levels dropped off drastically a few weeks back so I've been making more of an effort to eat carbs at certain points as I cut back too much.

Time will tell if it get stuck me any closer to the front of the pack.
