Very interesting
@bobinski, thanks for the link. He sounds like a very determined individual, with a quite unique issue to deal with.
Sounds like I should certainly be able to train up to a sustained 220 watts at 140-150 bpm or so, if he can do it at less than 100 bpm. And if I can keep around 70 Kg or less, getting up Ventoux sounds doable. However, I'm not very brave when it comes to health problems, and the possibility of 2+ hours of exertion provoking a stroke that far from home sounds unpleasant.
I've spent the last 10 days having regular bouts of vision disruption after trying to average 17mph on my last run out, so I've been telling myself not to push so hard. Hopefully they'll stop soon, as they have previously, as I'm really missing my cycling. The weather at least is trying to make me feel better by being absolutely pants.
It would help if the doctors could tell me what is causing these visual problems, what caused the strokes, or how much exertion is safe without running the risk of causing another, but they haven't got a clue about any of it and could only say that everything looked fine, apart from all the bleeding and brain damage!
I must check out how he gets on with his ride, I've wanted to cycle up Ventoux since
@BILL S first made us do it in the Mountain Goats a few years ago.
