Got to sort me out a new PC as my old one was running on a pirate Windows 7 that couldn't be upgraded to 10 and was getting a little slow for the improvements in the various platforms.
I don't have a new trainer yet either but contrary to rumour my BKool is a bulk standard old Pro.
I did at one point buy a 'for spares or repairs' Pro when I was running a classic and used the Pro circuit board in my Classic so I could keep up in the days of the Pro-Slings.
First I need to partition my garage as I do a lot of dusty work in there and don't fancy flexing my lungs with such things as ceramic tile and MDF dust hanging around.
For now I have put my bike together with two wheels, brakes and some proper road bars with the intention of pottering around the local countryside to start getting my cycling legs back and create a reasonable pass time for my looming retirement in the next 4 years or sooner and certainly before I hit 70.
I just need to work on my mojo right now and have started keeping up with Pro-Cycling which is what got me back on my bike almost 20 years ago now when I started riding to work.

I'm always brought back down to earth when I hear guys like you and Keith... @Randyberlin @Goldwolfie and others mention age. I think I've done well to win a stage / compete and realise I'm almost half your age. Chapeau

Getting the feeling that the ageing thing is a bit of a bath tub, a bit like mechanical wear and failure and I am now on the steep slope back up as my memmory goes in the opposite direction.
I certainly know that I have lost the majority of the fitness I had in my 2.5 year lay off which is why I need to 'get back on the bike'. I haven't even been running in that time either so I think that this isn't going to be an as easy journey back as the previous times I have taken an indoor cycling break.

You COULD just install Windows 10 on the old PC. You don’t NEED a license either, if you can live with the occasional watermark on the screen. If it is a laptop it is probably too old and/or impossible to upgrade. If a desktop, there may be options…

Yes, I remember the thing about using the PCB from one trainer in another, hence the Frankenstein remark. ^_^

You really should get a proper trainer however. I still have my Pro, but haven‘t used it in more than 3 years, so have no idea how it performs in either BKOOL or Zwift these days.

In your weight class (provided you have not put on weight like some of us ), a KICKR Core, an Elite Direto or a Tacx Flux 2 would be fine. The top models often just offers more resistance (required to offer steep gradients for heavier riders) and a few other nice-to-haves. :okay:

where about are you aaac ? I have a taco Neo that you could try if you wanted ? if you are fairly local I would drop it off because contrary to popular believe - I am nice ! doesnt solve computer issue but may help if you wanted to go down that path - I am willing to go 50 /60 miles any direction ( im near Northampton ) if you met same distance that covers fair area - just don't go near London - they can't even build a straight skyscraper nowadays

The first steps the hardest isn’t it. Big old cliche but it’s definitely true. Hopefully if you can get into a routine like before then that helps the motivation. It does for me anyway. If I know when I’m doing something each week it definitely helps motivate me.

Hopefully the fitness comes back steadily mate. In the mean time the rest of us can get a big of payback for all the suffering you inflicted on us over the years trying and failing to keep up with you!

Berty mentioning his spare turbo reminded me I actually have his old bkool trainer body (not legs) in my loft. I could prob post it to you if lee dosent mind. I’m not sure they work anymore with the more recent app though?

Back on the road. on Tuesday I stood outside the bike shop in Kungsbacka for over half an hour after they were supposed to open before I googled the translation that said closed for the holiday. Wednesday at 10 they opened but didn’t have the shifter. They found one in Goteborg and I rode there. When I got there they had the shifter but couldn’t put it on for at least 2 days. Parking lot mechanic time. I was able to cut the hydraulic hose and slip the new Ferrell on without losing much fluid. The threads weren’t the same in the new one. .
I’m sure glad I have gears again because there have been a few hills out if Goteborg.
Storming the castle or eat ice cream?

Always spot on with the PC tips.

Anyone getting out today. Sun is shining but the gusts of wind putting me off

I e just come back from doing a few repeats of a local ‘hill’. Myself and Berty are going to do raid Pyrenees in 3 weeks. Or maybe I should say we’re ‘attempting’ to do raid Pyrenees. Lack of any real training and a bit of a lingering niggle means I probably shouldn’t assume anything!

Really lovely morning though. My favourite time of year maybe.

Did you get out in the end Shim?
