Tough call. I only upgraded because I knew the bike shed was going to be my only vacation this year. My level of riding doesn’t merit it but I sure love it. I just spent another $150 for steering add on.
Note. The steering add on for the Neo 2t only works with windows. I just spent the last week swapping back and forth between a PC and a Mac. Ended up with the Mac getting the ios upgraded and now its working great. So it may be a while before I swap back. I won't get back home until Monday to try to cut into the time on @Bored Man and @Goldwolfie

So........
If I was to get a new indoor trainer to replace the smart pro 2 ( it works and I have no issues) and I'm using a 10 year old bike with sora gears at the moment, would I be better getting a full dedicated watt bike thing ( I can't afford 1) or something else. Thanks
I got a kickr core this summer to replace one of the pros which had started to become unreliable but more for the noise than anything else. The house in France is fine but I was very conscious of disturbing the neighbours in the flat in Barcelona. Like @Bored Man I have been super impressed and would recommend it to anybody who isn't looking for a top end set up. It is silent, realistic and really stable.
In terms of your bike i agree with @AAAC 76C that shimano 105 are the best value for money group set especially if it's for a trainer bike where weight isn't an issue. That said on a course like last night's, or a lot of bkool routes where constant changing is needed the di2 on my good bike are a god send. I would never buy a new bike (there's a wish that's never going to happen) without electric changing and have even toyed with sram wireless as an upgrade for the second bike as it doesn't have internal cabling. However, on brvr where the gradient changes are smoother the 105 on my second bike are more than good enough.
In terms of pet protection i just close the door!

Yeah the new Wattbike is £1900 so pretty lumpy (mine was a few hundred cheaper), I have to say it's pretty convenient - jump on and go with no set-up issues. But a Kickr Core plus a steel/alloy road bike with decent gears could be half the price. There was some chat here on Wattbikes https://www.cyclechat.net/threads/is-a-wattbike-worth-the-money.263779/
I didn't highlight the lower risk of pet decapitation though, there's certainly less external moving parts, just the pedals really. I like mine except for the slow gear-change and the generous power. I'm thinking to go to Poland for a month so might have to get a kickr or something similar there which will be an interesting comparison.
Missed the race tonight as I was shamefully hung over, will defo do the re-run.
Hung over at 6pm. Must have been a good session.

Due to the pubs closing now at 10pm we adjusted start time to 1pm and still got kicked out by the land lady at 10pm, yes it was a shocker, since lock-down I've been drinking a lot less in fact almost nothing but my mates seem to have maintained their levels so it hit me hard yesterday. I have to say the pub was amazingly well upgraded for covid19, they had a meet and greet outside, made sure you were masked up, scanned the QR code/signed in then took you through to the table (in our case a courtyard garden with cover and heaters). Only then you could unmask, it was table service all day which was super fast and they policed the mask wearing away from the table. We paused for the obligatory curry across the street (when I say paused I should say 'switched to Tiger') where we were the only customers in the entire restaurant, I have no idea what I had, I just remember trying something I'd never had before which was definitely a schoolboy error.
I'm still not right even now, never again, never again........

As ever I've been using beer as a motivating tool, don't hit the targets don't get the beer. Perhaps I should adjust the targets as most days seem to have resulted in a quaff or two!

This is great. If your wife doesn’t want to go.... oh never mind, Americans still not welcomed. I’m pretty sure @LBHIFI and @CXRAndy have done the rides there. It sounds great. Plus you Could tell your wife it counts as her Xmas present.
