Hi folks! Well BY FAR the most inhospitable weather conditions I have ever had the displeasure to be performing in. The finish line scaffolding and signage blew away, my helmet had blown 10 yards away off my bike in transition, which took me 2 minutes to find.
Gusting 30-40mph on the bike ride. Thought the hail was going to slice me open! A bitch of a ride on the away leg, and over 40mph return leg, one guy registered 50mph. At one point the wind blew me to a complete standstill, had to put a foot down.
Amazed they didn't call it off, it was bloody dangerous....but kind of exhilarating. Took me ages to unclip my helmet and do up my trainer laces, my hands were that cold.
My wife got 3rd Female overall, which she was understandably very chuffed about. I have no idea on my times yet, they had all sorts of issues with the conditions, and are hoping to post full results tomorrow.
I think I swore out loud all the way out on the bike ride, it was tough!

I was playing with the views, managed to get some good action, especially when Paul flew by Bill near the end, and a great battle with Bill and Geoff.

Sorry about the quality, I had to quickly install some someware to capture the screen output and didn't get the setting quite right!

Thanks Paul, great to get the race from other perspectives, especially the extended looking back views ...

Wow Adam that sounds horrendous, especially on the bike. You both toughed it out though so that's the main thing. Brilliant result from your Missus to come third. Bet you'll be well up there too.
Did you feel stronger than last time you raced on a bike out of interest?

Erm, hard to say really. I was so bloody cold, that was my most prominent feeling. My times will tell the bigger story. It was really hard to gauge your performance because we were in waves of 10. I proposed a quick swim time, so was in the penultimate wave. I was second out of the pool in my wave, but got overtaken by the rest of my wave in the bike ride. Regained about 4 positions on the run.
Only about 90 turned up, the conditions must have put a lot off.

Just ridden the last Goat stage (Mortirolo Alpes Dolimitas). Amazingly it only took 33 mins as its a strangely calibrated ride. Its much easier than it first appears and you can carry a lot of speed up the hills if you get your gears right. Come on! Who's up for Challenging my ghost?
And if it's any help, I was still bloody knackered after the previous three nights rides.

@Add - triathlon sounds brutal. Hats off for even completing something like that in such conditions!

I'm heading off for a couple of nights near to Dublin tomorrow, so next ride i do will be Thursdays jaunt. Should be on a bkool trainer too all being well.

Nursing my sore back/being a wimp so no ride for me today but will hopefully give it a go tomorrow and chase your ghost.

I think it's probably still there tomorrow and if you challenge me today or tomorrow it may still be available in your leagues tab until Tuesday. I'll then have to approve it as a late ride, which of course I will.

Made Amateur 10 but need to find another ten watts from somewhere to make active. That's not going to happen for quite some time.
