Yes I can, Yes I am, Yes I did...Repeat.
I agree with @theboxers . I had a similar problem and found the brass shaft on the stepper motor was worn so the magnets couldn't find home. I replaced my trainer because the shipping to be repaired was more than 1\2 of the cost of a new one. However a fix that will keep it going is to superglue a thin nut with the same threads on the end of the magnet carrier. The new nut will engage threads in a different spot on the shaft and move the magnets where they belong. It worked on my old unit.

Thanks

I spent a day pulling it all apart (while waiting for bkool 'support') . Eventually I fixed it. Apparently it has to do with needing to re calibrate. Re calibrate what exactly I remain unsure. This is what happened:

Removed casings & visual check but nothing loose etc
Decided to avoid anything circuit board related as I have no idea what Im doing
Removed the circuit board (lol!)
Removed the motor & powered up
Sprayed everything with contact cleaner
removed the two magnets
Unplugged the multi wires from circuit board to motor
Tried to remove spindle but my cone spanners dont fit the dam thing

I reassembled everything. No joy. I did that several times.
I let the motor spin around in my hand for about 2 minutes (mostly because it was fun and reminded me of a spinning top)
I ref itted the motor and this time the multi wire to the circuit board slipped while the machine gun noise was going on...suddenlt the noise reverted to the usual start up click hummmmm I'm more attached to. Loose/bad wire clearly, but no idea which one, bent wires back and the machine gun noise reappeared.
So I bent back until I got the right sound and screwed the bloody thing back together again.

It worked today for 40 miles on Zwift just fine.

Bkool wanted stupid money for replacing all the parts (none of which actually needed replacing). I'd fixed it before they got around to replying.

Haha Good Question! I really don't know. If they hadn't made the course longer and muddier I would have done it a few more times, probably, but I think I'll have another go at Relentless24 instead, which takes place in October and is a lot less muddy. Pity that doesn't tie in with your visit as I'm sure I could have persuaded you to join me. On the plus side, when making comparisons on pain and tiredness, the DD is right up there. It admittedly doesn't take so long to recover from or need a 3 hour hot bath, but the actual suffering towards the end of the event is very similar in my opinion.

@BILL S @perswe @Brusgaard I have a long hard ride itrw tomorrow but by Sunday y evening I might be up for a wc redo of a stage if any of you want support for a stage you haven't done or want to do again. I'm not promising I'll last the distance but I'm happy to pull for as long as I can.
Great offer, thanks Keith, but I think I've more or less given up on the WC. Feeling quite unmotivated right now for some reason.

It's January, getting on the turbo yet again is hard, there aren't a many of us here, but ,and it's a big but, without you I wouldn't enjoy winter cycling anyway as much as I do, and I chanelled our last ride on my hard work into a horrible head wind this morning. You'll pip me on the sprint next week and all will be well with the world.

Hope you're right Keith. Hopefully just winter blues and all will be well in the Spring. Definitely felt weaker during that last ride and I didn't even have an excuse except not enough exercise. No more riding to work for me as I have a new job so got to do it all on the turbo.
