Your probably looking at a downhill section if there’s any hint of speed . Mate was it particularly bad in London tonight? Felt like the pollution levels where high even by normal standards.
Same here in Wales actually.....although it smells suspiciously like they’re spreading chicken sh!t.Funny you should say that. I felt like I could taste the toxins in the air tonight. Put me off going on the turbo. I am hoping for some wind or rain to clear the air.
Unless we all have turbos other than the pro then you can’t compete on bkool. Try a little test yourself on a short course with both trainers. The difference is staggering Not just the start , but every hill you encounter you will get left behind , not because your not kicking out watts but I found it more to do with bkool having a hissy and saying “ this is the speed you should be doing “ , taking you down to that speed , no matter what you do , then slowly increasing it to match watts like a reverse slingshotWell, I've just ordered a Tacx Neo from Chain Reaction Cycles.
Got £100 off with my British Cycling discount.
So, next question. Can anyone give me some guidance on how and when to start bitching about Bkool's dodgy power algorithms and why I'm stuck on the start line 30 seconds after everyone else has left?
Seriously, looking forward to it, but expecting that I'm going to have to review whether I carry on using the Bkool Sim, try out Zwift or take a look at others like BigRingVR.
Looking forward to the advice!!
I hate hearing Bkool getting berated like this, but as I find myself perched perilously close to the point of purchasing a new turbo, I must confess, I won’t be standing for any of that ‘reverse slingshot’ nonsense. No idea when my subscription is up, but I can’t see that being the deciding factor in my exodus from Bkool. Do you use BRVR and Zwift then?Unless we all have turbos other than the pro then you can’t compete on bkool. Try a little test yourself on a short course with both trainers. I like bkool and think that 3D world is just what I want like a closed race between us all but brvr does the video thing much better and Zwift does cartoon world more professional- if Zwift starts closed races that we could arrange between ourselves the I will say bkool would lose everyone
But a power meter at £500 or a new trainer at £900 plus £200 from selling the bkool unit second hand and there is only one real option!Happy medium for those who want to continue to bkool is a Pro and a PM especially if you want to ride to power irl.
I think power readings are more accurate when climbing at a consistent incline, such as stage 2 of the June CG... Rather than the rolling roads that we can hammer out the Watts on. Thanks @BILL S that was rather torturous stage, then I mistakenly looked at stage 4 where the route comments are:It's a shame that with Bkool Sim you can't use powermeter with turbo trainer. Power readings would be more realistic and more consistent with other programs. For me avg power with Bkool Sim rises too easy over 200W comparing Zwift and BRVR.
That might be optimistic price DP. Saying that I haven't looked at the 2nd hand market for turbos£200 from selling the bkool unit second hand
I got a second-hand Stages PM for £150 off eBay so that may be a cheaper option for people. Obviously only one-sided, but if it's (was?) good enough for Sky....But a power meter at £500 or a new trainer at £900 plus £200 from selling the bkool unit second hand and there is only one real option!
Probably depreciated a lot as there is so much sledging on CC for all to see! You zwifters are like the ozzie cricket team! That might be optimistic price DP. Saying that I haven't looked at the 2nd hand market for turbos
i am outside most the time now but when weather is bad I try to catch up on the league in brvr and may enter big races in Zwift. Very rare I go on bkool. Can’t even go in the velodrome as drafting is nigh on impossible.I hate hearing Bkool getting berated like this, but as I find myself perched perilously close to the point of purchasing a new turbo, I must confess, I won’t be standing for any of that ‘reverse slingshot’ nonsense.
