Beeb news just said the temperature has dropped to -12c in the Scottish Highlands :cold: @Jim Brown , even for a Yorkshireman that must be a bit chilly for you! Down here it's nippy, but clear skies and not a drop of snow .... strange how diverse our weather can be in such a small country

Just got back to the land of the Scot. 5 inch of snow and just started snowing again. Nithering... :cold:

Bugno,
Strava link? What turbo?

BUGNO: I don't use Strava. I do not know what a turbo is other than the thing that makes cars go faster.

... and then I googled. When you write turbo you mean the trainer ? I have a BKOOL trainer purchased medio December 2014. Ie, the shop I bought it might have had it for so long that it's one of those trainers that can't be calibrated with Zwift. At least, I do not get that calibration button that I've seen in documentation on the web.

Less friendly?!? AS friendly IF you mix with the right people. Go mix with the racers and you will get support and also lots of competition and some unfriendliness, just like most competitive fora. At A and B level and increasingly C there is a lot of frustration with sandbaggers, weight dopers and other performance enhancing users. Other than that I largely see a Hugely supportive community it’s just it’s much much bigger than on bkool. So it’s harder to find teams or groups to ride with that you may have something in common with especially when they will proportionally have more overseas riders. Also the very sise means it’s harder to mix and chat and p take after a race or ride. I missed that bkool element. That’s why I was drawn to Zsun where we have that during and after rides. On Zsun racing we have just had the annual awards for various silly things, we have another awards based on distance and altitude etc And amidst all that a lot of p taking and camaraderie. New target s have been set for everyone, support offered for future training rides. To say Zwift users don’t help or are unsupportive is just silly tosh and ignores the huge community that has built up just to do those very things. It’s good, much the same as here with you all supporting each other on your souped up unreliable bkool rides:tongue: Main thing is we are all having fun and staying or getting fitter.

I have to say sometimes reading stuff on here sometimes is like reading the mutterings of pro Brexiters. There is a lack of perspective/ reality. I can understand if people don’t like Zwift- no one is obliged to- I can also understand if people get lost in it at first - I did too. But to say users are unsupportive and unfriendly as if a few too many idiots reflect the actuality is just plain silly^_^

BUGNO: The Brexit stuff is something y'all have to deal with on the other side of the pond between Denmark and England ;) As for Zwift ... I just found it boring (and likely completely out of synch with my old Bkool trainer).

Bob - I didn't say Zwift users were unhelpful, I said, and I quote "Zwift is also less friendly" and I stand by that. I could quote for hours the unfriendly comments I've seen on FB aimed at other fellow Zwift riders, but this is rarely seen on Bkool rides. There have even been threads where there has been talk of people having thrown insults at people whilst in-ride FFS!

As for being personal, you quoting me then mentioning souped up Pro trainers was personal and you knew this would get my back up. Maybe if you hadn't had a dig at Pro users, again, I may not have reacted. When you stop having a dig at Pro users I'll stop responding - unfortunately I see this as a form of bullying as you must know that not everyone can afford to spend extra money on other trainers or power meters so we use what we have. Stop having a go at Pro users as not everyone can afford a Neo, power meters and all the extra expensive gubbins. Some of us just want to ride and get fitter and have a bit of a laugh along the way.

For the record I plan to be the first person to sign a pro-contract with a Tour team at the age of +45 :cycle:

I'll give CG3 a go in a bit and put it through its paces

Well I completed my attempt of CG3. I can't exactly say I conquered it but at least I was able to make it to the end this time . A good 5+ mins down on a lot of you, even with my fair share of drafting

If I'm still feeling better tomorrow I'll do CG4 and complete the set. Not sure if I'll be back in time to make the re-run but I will if I can - it would be good to join in a 'real' virtual ride this month!.

True, Lee. We need to see the strava link, else its irrelevant. The only comment would be Bungo doesn't like Zwift, which is fairdooos

I am not religious at all when it comes to Zwift. Graphics are great and smooth, many riders on the course, you can switch directions on the course when you want to etc. I like that.

I am starting to think the bkool trainer I have simply isn't calibrated to Zwift and that might have ruined the experience.

Wrt my fitness ... I know what 135W for about 1 hour feels like and that ride was not right. Reason being the above I suspect.

Again, I have no idea what Strava is.

Will stop commenting or writing about Zwift. I was not aware of the emotions people have between bkool and Zwift. Truth is, if I could get Zwift to work properly I'd use them both. But if it requires that I invest in a new trainer ... I won't. I ride the bike to stay fit and because it is a great balance to running. The wear and tear is a lot lower on the bike compared to running. Hence, I can go hard for 1,5-2 hours on the bike one day and still run 10-15k the next.

Anyway, I wont mention zwift again. Sorry for bringing it up in the first place.

That's fine Bugno. I/We didn't know what trainer you had. The Bkool Pro can work well, there is a method to get it to work correctly.

You have switch it off after you've logged into Zwift. This seems to clear any settings and then the Bkool Pro works well.

Note sometimes it doesn't always reset and you'll get an easy ride compared to what it should be.

it really surprises me that you don't know /use strava !- it only logs all your data much the same as garmin connect with segments
you can log all activities on it like running etc and you can connect bkool ,zwift ,garmin your phone straight up to it so your data is there in front of you
i like it - just so i can see how i did in certain places and try to better it next time
just seems easier to use than garmin connect although i didnt persevere with connect when it updated and got more confusing

Makes sense.

For all my running I use Garmin. Fun fact: the Garmin GPS "watch" I bought 4 years ago for the equivalent of 3 mortgages looks like an ancient artifact from the year 1080 now ... a leftover from the Vikings back when York was the main city ;)

Bugno,
You did nothing wrong mate. Feel free to talk about anything here. Or over on the splitters thread.
I see you use Garmin. I vaguely recall the Garmin app can cause problems over ant fec. If you use it then You could try closing it down before you start up Zwift. If it doesn’t work post over on the splitters and I will try and help.
Good luck .
