Tried SC3 again tonight. Pushed as hard as I could but still only pulled back 1 minute. Very strange course with 'funnies'! At one point you go from I think +4% to -6.3% ... I was pushing 400 watts in the transition but the speed did not increase, and the turbo resistance didn't change either. Only when it dropped to -5% did the turbo catch up. During that 100 metres the ghost behind me caught me up and passed me.

Same happened with Steve's ghost. At the top of the first hill as it transitioned to -% gradient. I was just in front of Steve on the top, but by the time my turbo reacted to the -ve gradient Steve was 12 seconds ahead and pulling away. This always seems to happen to me where the transitions are from medium +ve to -ve ... Anyone else have anything similar?
Yes. It was very difficult for me. I tried resting on the blue downhills but didn't seem to work as usual. My ride was so sluggish I thought my tire pressure must be low but it wasn't. Just a tough route for me.

Sorry, no more juice left in the legs, and that small climb at the start really hurt much more than anticipated!'

Better take that painkiller 15 minutes earlier next time!

Changing my name in BKOOL would mess up the ranking in the Danish FB races.

Thanks for the daily emails of shame @Goldwolfie

Edit. That's sarcasm.
@Randyberlin - I'm sure you'll get your own back when when we get some hilly SC stages.

Mind, saying that, I soon found a way to turn that feature off.

I'm just trying to get back up to speed after quite a bit of time off the turbo.

Mrs GW and myself spent the whole of June touring the usual sights on the west coast of the USA to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary - so no new bike for me this year.

Whorty I think you need to get a track pump so you can easily get 120 psi into your tyre. You said something about the end of your valve being broken, but I think it's possible to replace those without replacing the tube. It used to be possible, not that I've replaced a valve for years.

Did the West coast a couple of years back and loved every minute of it.
Tell me more, where did you start and finish?

I have noticed that as well.
I also occasionally get caught out if I'm backing off on a climb when working in a group and crest off power but the guy you are backing off for comes over the top on power and flies off past you at the gradient change.
It's a bit like the slingshot, but in reverse .... i've tried all things but just can't find a technique that works.

I have a track pump and I did pump it to 105 but then the end broke off the valve. The little bit that screws and you press to expel air. Not touched it since in case the tyre completely deflates. I'll take it to the bike shop when I'm back off my hols :okay:

Not much 'elite' in my ride tonight (or Active 8 / Pro 3 for that matter..) Doing CG2 on Sunday, CG1 on Monday and CG3 today, might be pushing it.

Tomorrow is Bkool rest day. Must finish cutting the hedge before noon and watch TdF all afternoon.

Can't you screw it back in?

In September I'm doing it again. Starting in Bellingham Washington and ending in southern Oregon this time. The last time I rode the same route to San Francisco but the California portion was the worst for traffic so this time stopping short.
Is that on your bike and how many miles is that?

I've taken the next 3 days off as well for similar reasons, Fence and TdF.

No, the metal screw piece has snapped off completely. In the pic, everything from the screw bit that has opened the valve upwards snapped off. Not sure if it will still pump up, but my guess is as soon as I put the pump onto it all the air will escape and I'll need to change the tube. I have a spare tube but I'm not sure how to get the wheel off and change the tube on this bike so not attempted it yet :shy: I'll see how it goes and change it when the tyre gets too flat

Actually I'm speaking cr4p again and it's only the schrader valves that can be replaced. Not a hard job to replace a tube though once you get used to it. Hardest thing is to avoid nipping the tube but you get good at that after a while.
