Unusually high average speed from Andy Ross in SC 2 especially considering his 59th place in SC 1 and average watts of 316 to average at 55kph
If you want to see something dodgy see Alberto's average watts in SC2. About 570 odd at 1.5 times his normal!

From km 23.5 to km 26 the route drops barely 1m yet his speed goes from 54 kph to 66 kph peaking at 1000 plus watts and holding over 800 fro a km or more.
Perhaps he had a BKool gift.
Saying that I have not ridden this yet but I know high cadence downhill stages don't fare well with me.

Edit:
The Titan Desert Stage in the June CG was similarly downhill overall but on 'sandy roads' and Jacob and DP barely touched 400 watts average in that so 540 does seem a bit high for this stage.

Not from Contador I don't think
Not from Qintana
Definitely not from Porte
Did Fuglsang damage his wrist today?
So its Aru, Bardet, Martin or perhaps Rigo not forgetting Yates.
Contador might try and mix it up but having fallen today as well I expect not.
However if Froome is feeling good why not Landa just to put the cat amongst the pigeons and make the other teams chase.

Edit
Contador admits that things aren't going well in the race and today's crashes put an end to the idea of attacking in the Pyrenees. "This didn't help, now we will have to wait to the Alps. But my motivation is always high, particularly because of all the people that show me their support."

Edit 2

Two small fractures for Fuglsang in Tour de France crash

What's up with Quintana? He seems to have lost lots of the punch he had four or so years ago. He's a guy who's young enough to still improve but it seems like he's gone backwards in my opinion. Maybe it's partly a case of sky nullifying him by keeping the pace high and Valverde taking himself out of the equation. But I'd love to see more from him at this point in his career.

'Clean' riders cant do two big tours in a row. He hasn't shown the true punch he had a few years ago. Remember when Froome won his first TDF title, Froome made a big acceleration on a climb, Quintana stuck with him for a while then went pop, Quintana just pops quicker these days.

GC- now Astana are now effectively 2 men down, Cataldo out, Fulsang with broken bones in wrist and elbow but carrying on!!. So Aru is exposed, if he cant hang in today/tomorrow Froome will strengthen his grip on the title. ^_^

I suppose I was pondering why he seems to have gone backwards the last few years. Sport's littered with athletes who don't quite live up to their early promise and I'm hoping Quintana doesn't get that tag. The fact he doesn't prioritise the tdf, ecspecially this year with less time trials, maybe tells its own story.

Can't see Fulsang lasting past today. Astana probably need to use him as long as possible to protect Aru, and today's stage looks mean, but with fracture in wrist and elbow doesn't look good. Maybe Aru and Quintana will gang up against Sky .... seems this is the only way they can ty and win these days (Quntana and Nibali tried same in Giro against Dumoulin so could see it easily again).

This TdF is now one for Sky to lose as no one looks as strong as Froome, and even with Big G gone the Sky team looks very strong. Sky should send Landa and Henao up in the breakaway today and shake things up a bit. If Landa can get far enough ahead it will put pressure on the others teams who will need to chase and leave Sky to relax in the pelaton.

I'm out today so can't watch the ride live ... Will have to try and catch up later this evening and hope there are no spoilers!

Can't like Quintana and don't rate him too much. When he has lots of help (mostly from the likes of Valverde) he has a chance, but as soon as he's on his own in the peleton he just looks devoid of ideas. I don't think he's a good tactition. I also don't like that he is always up for attacking when the lead rider has problems (Giro against TD, this TdF against Frrome). Seems he has the same morals as the top Italian riders

Stage 2 of the Chaingang will be tonight at 7pm. :bicycle:,

Don't give up on this rare opportunity to beat AAAC :cycle:. Although him putting in the high watts at the end could make this rather hard even if we can stick with him (which is a little bit doubtful TBH) :banghead:

I agree with Whorty. Quintana has no real tactical ability. He continues to be a real disappointment. Oh for a Robert Millar/Philipa Yorke unafraid to take it to the best climbers. Someone proactive not reactive. Perhaps he will prove me wrong-today is the day with all those cols.

You can be the greatest tactician in the world but if you don't have it in your legs then it doesn't count for much!

Sort of goes back to my original point. Has Quintana got the ability to attack the bunch? Seems he more likely to fall off the back...
