I need to remember to keep you behind me on a bkool sprint finish!

Not to worry, that's probably never gonna happen anyway. ^_^

Cav had Demare's wheel and showed he had the pace to go past Sagan. Sagan wanted Demares wheel and was willing to squeeze a rider onto the rail to get it... it was a d!ck move. The elbow isn't all the relevant really in my opinion. The damage was already done.

Normal is a funny word for me Brusgaard, and one sociologists have lots of fun with! What is normal? How do we decide what is normal? And how do we change it? Maybe if someone dies (yes this is possible when traveling at 40mph in a bike). Personally I think theres a line between pushing someone sideways to pushing them into the fence.

Honestly I don't think the debate is whether Sagan rode dangerously or not. It's just was the punishment too strong.

One thing my non-idol CB pointed out is that the rule is all about changing line and they all changed line, most notably Demare who almost took out Bouhanni.
The Sagan/Cavendish coming together was an accident that could have been avoided if Sagan had glanced back.
If he did know Cavendish was there, and Cav certainly knew he was then it was just two determined sprinters going for the same wheel.
I think Sagan is out because they are bored with him winning the Green Jersey.
As result of the incident and the punishment the Tour will be less interesting for me so I say it's a shame Sagan is out and I expect Cav will drop out as well as that should does not look too good.

The original punishment for Sagan was sufficient until the commissaries started to realise Cav was probably out due to the injuries. Cav out - Sagan out.

Whatever the rights and wrongs of the whole thing it's a great shame Sagan - and presumably Cav are both out

Well done AAAC - I was hoping to stay with you and work together but I just wasn't strong enough. Even with a little help from your ghost @Daddy Pig I couldn't stay with you either - couldn't even beat my own ghost at the end actually!!

I stand very disappointed in myself.
1. I let the DP Jacob train drive off without me.
2. I then gave up at km 10 like a big kid
3. Having done that I realised that I would still have to go through the pain again so I kicked back into gear.
I did wait for you but you didn't seem to bridging the last couple of seconds and the ghosts ahead were moving away.
As I said earlier I felt I had heavy legs today when I was warming up.
We set off well though didn't we.
You all got the jump on me so I had to work pretty hard to get to the front in the first place.

At the end of the day this is a Watts Stage and not W/kg (which I did do best on).
And I survived without coming off on the wet corners.

You should have kept going as you would have still put in a very quick time! Well, it's still quick isn't it compared to us mere mortals!

Okay, maybe "normal" isn't the right word, but it happens so often, you'll have to take it into account, if you want to do the sprint. As said, the whole bunch moved to the right, and Cav tried going a bit too much to the right and probably hit Sagan leg with his foot or something.

Agree on the punishment being too strong. The original "preliminary" punishment would have been enough to ruin Sagans goal for the tour.

I think I suggest the word normal is a funny one is because even if the sprinters as you suggest, accept it as normal / part of sprinting, it doesn't make normal ok. It is for the rule makers ultimately to decide what is acceptable, what is dangerous etc.

I think where we disagree is that I believe Cav has Demare's wheel and Sagan squeezed him out.

It's a great shame for the race but no one is bigger than the event. They already made that mistake with Armstrong! I think they should make the rules clearer and then stick to them.
