How's it going folks? I am struggling big style to
Will try to do a short precis when I get home about 6.
1. Log into cyclechat
2. Make excuses
3. Scoff at other excuses
4. Log into ride
5. Swear at Geoff and or Bill for picking that course.
6. While racing try to think of legitimate excuse to drop out. I.e. Broken derailleur
7. Finish and log back on to cyclechat for post ride banter.
8. Thank Geoff and or Bill for arranging the ride.

You can't choose any course any time?
To choose your course you have to use code from zwifthacks.com which rewrites your preferences file for zwift.

Otherwise you're stuck with the course of the day. Presumably one day there will be an official way to select the course you want.

Can you sign up for a free trial? I still have 10 months left on bkool so not about to switch, but wouldn't mind a play on zwift if free
Yea, there's a free trail. It's time *and* distance limited. I actually did two trials using different email addresses before signing up.

I will have another look at the KISS race. I suspect I am a solid C cat! I did a social PAC ride yesterday. Easy to see your group because they all wear same kit so not like racing. Over a 100 of us. Started slowish and then surfed and drafted and chased and drafted from one one of the group ride to another for 3 laps before hitting the volcano. Great fun. I like that you see your watts per kilo and that of other riders because it makes it easier to identify someone who is about the same pace. Makes shared drafting much easier.
It will also be much easier to race as you suggest when they introduce the promised closed group racing.
I will look out for you!.
I'm "C" for the short races, "D" for the longer ones that climb. The Tue KISS EUR race is where you're most likely to see me as it hits the same window between meetings that I'd previously used for the handicap/chase races in bkool.

I'm signing upto Zwift tonight. I'll probably just race once a week, Bob, jlaw pipe up which races you choose?
I'm in the 2-3W/Kg for distance maybe a little higher for short rides.
The rest of the week l will use trainer-road. But soon as the weather improves it will be TT season. Also it was suggested in Tenerife that I try and put 5-10 hours zone 2 riding on top of my short training sessions for (Wales DD). So there isn't going to be alot of spare time for much else.

Andy, will do.
I don't know how easy it is for you to do zone 2 rides IRL BUT if you cannot there are lots of sub 2k/w and 1.5k/w rides on zwift you can do unless TR suits you better. So, for example i am doing this tomorrow morning which sounds ideal but might be a little too soon for you, or indeed a little early:

SATURDAY, MARCH 4TH
8:30AM GMT

ZSUN Base Builder Ride (55.6 mi / 89.4 km)
zsun.jpg

DESCRIPTION
The ZSUN Base Builder is a training event.

This endurance ride will last between 2 - 2.5 hours depending on the course.

Riders must be able to maintain 180 watts on the flats and hold 2.5/wkg on the climbs

Please follow the ride leader's instructions.

I've just been setting up the Velo sessions for my works Red Nose Day event.

The 62.5km Event
http://www.bkool.com/bkoolSession/editSession?sessionId=8120306
This has a number of 16 lap sections at the start, with a sprint lap on the last but one lap. Just to get people used to riding on the trainer. Then there are a series of 1 or 2 lap sprints, every 10 laps or so, until the last 2 lapper at 62km.

Then we have the 100km session
http://www.bkool.com/bkoolSession/editSession?sessionId=8120331
Every one should now be used to the riding and interspersed sprint laps. So I've put in a series or 1, 2 or 3 lap sprints. just to keep the interest up. We're going to try for the 100miles per team. Don't know how realistic that is as a target.

I've made the executive decision to go with the lowest weight of the riders present for both teams. I would not be popular if I put in my weight for everyone to use . I've also added some ghosts to keep the drome fuller

The KISS races seem quite popular and they run time at various times that ought to fit into both US and Europe's timezones. I'd start there.

http://kissraces.cc/race-schedule/

The Monday C/D (20:00 UTC) and the Tues Europe (ABCD) are the best fits for me. There's an iTT on Wednesdays that I might try on/off as well. The 100kms are probably not well suited for me :-0
