LIVING THE DREAM
Are you going to tell all later? Like why you didn't finish the session?

And @bridgy ? What happened? I thought there'd be no chance of me catching you up.

I was in Bkool La La land today.
My average power was 270 and bpm was 136 and I was streets ahead.
My turbo didn't know if it was going up or down and I was getting ridiculous speed for very little power and then the was the multitude of dead stops.
I even got one gong down hill.
As a result and based on the fact my quick progress could not be attributed to my relative effort I decided to leave early so a it would not count toward the GC.

I'm WFH tomorrow so likely escape from the laptop and be ready on the bike around 6 o'clock. Noticed it took Jim 1hr 20, so i'll be expecting the same kind of time if I can get to the end  Might even try to get off work early and see if I can get on by 5-30. What suits you best @Breedon ?
Probably best start at 6 gives me time for the warm up.

I had a nightmare! Constantly lost signal between the trainer and laptop - had to keep taking the ant+ dongle out and put it in again. I even stopped at one point and found a usb extension lead but that didn't help either. Then eventually I just gave up and cruised to the line in a grump!
Oddly I keep getting this too, massively frustrating

That describes my ride tonight totally ballsed up the experience.

Think I may need to swap to Zwift (or is it trainer based rather than software?)

OK thanks, I might have another go on Saturday if I sacrifice my usual golf day as I started to enjoy the ride in a sadistic kind of way.
This time I will make sure automatic updates is also turned off......
Unfortunately that is easier said than done, depending on which Windows 10 version you have.
If you are on Win 10 Home and use a wifi connection, the easiest way is to set your wifi connection as metered.

From what I could see I thought there was an issue with my ipad as power was up and down like a yo yo. It looked that AAAC was sometimes around 100 watts and then at 700! Maybe this was just spectator mode. Sorry had to dash without more banter, daughter has hit the tantrum stages...
so has my daughter ! i am told it don't last long - so far its 24 years so it must nearly be over
sounds like most of us are having issues with bkool - do you all think its the software or the trainer causing the problems ?
if its the software then there is zwift where we can still abuse each other but if its the turbo i am going to have to grin and bear it this year
i just dont see how things can work one minute on a certain calc then be so wrong the next on the same calc but i must admit that when you all start talking geeky ( not a dig just cant think of another word ) it very soon goes waaaay over my head

You're right, didn't realise it was now restricted on Windows 10.
Would metered connection have an impact on your data downloads/uploads from the bkool simulator as well.
I've used the active hours method for now which apparently disables automatic restart during these selected hours.

I havn't tried it as I always use LAN and mostly Win 7.

Sounds highly dubious. Email this in to Bkool and it will be a test as to whether bkool will remove the result.
Edit: he may have well have used slope reduction in the settings. There is a dubious result on stage 8 at the top Look at the profile and it looks very different to that of others.

According to his Activity detail, he didn't use slope reduction. He has been disqualified though, and I'm still waiting for an explanation from BKool as to, how this is even possible. Not expecting an answer though... :-/

There is the stage 8 result with the leader having a dubious result as well. He's an amateur and beat Pep et al!
Yep, I mentioned that one on the Bkool English - Spiuk Challenge event page as well. Both 1st and 2nd place on stage 8 is not valid, and the fitness level for David/Alex Rawson at place 39 is way off too. Beating me with a 214watt effort, and weighing about 25kg more, doesn't make sense either, except if it was a downhill race.

I think the way Bkool calculates power has too many variables and poor algorithms. Changing a tyre can give a 50+ Watt increase in performance! that for starters is ridiculous.
There is smoothing of the profile, because if you think about it, it has to calculate power, so needs speed, weight and gradient ,everything is in lag working out what just happened, unlike when it has a power figure, the profile is much sharper in the peak and troughs It doesn't have a speed sensor or cadence. You can huge blips in power just by changing gear but keeping same speed.

If they would only make a turbo with a power meter, or accept power meter coupled to the trainer. You then have a figure which directly relates to pressure on pedals and speed of pedals.
