Hi all. Finally got me a bkool pro and am really happy with it, so Firstly Thanks for all the info posted on here.
I would like to join your league's and group rides but am unsure of how to go about this. I have searched for the cyclechat group and can see that there are three groups listed. Which one is yours please?
Also, once I've joined will I see the rides that are scheduled?
Do I need to be a premium member to join your rides?
Many thanks ( and please go easy on me as I really well be the fat lad at the back! )

I took so long to reply, I see Kipster has beaten me to it ...
Currently active Groups are
The Mountain Goats - Riding up virtual mountains - usually 1-2 hour mountain climbs - link here -
http://www.bkool.com/group/show/75682
Thursday Night CC Group - aimed at Multi-User Group rides for mixed abilities - usually on a Thursday night, with a weekend re-run but open to ride all other times -

To be a member of either group you just need to be active here and have a bkool account, and should
apply to join on Bkool, then post here with your Bkool Moniker so we can tie the two together.
New members are always welcome, so long as they are also active in this forum. To keep the groups relevant and friendly, applications that cannot be matched to an active Cyclechat user are not accepted.
Once your application to join has been accepted you will see the rides that are scheduled and they will appear in your League tab in the Simulator.
The Group rides are generally started by Group admin and you join during the 10 minute warm-up from the Live tab.
Both Groups have regular Leagues, usually a calendar month at a time. We are just starting the February leagues in both so now is an ideal time to join. Each month there are roughly 4 weekly stages to complete, the cumulative times counting to the monthly league. If you miss one or more stages, Bkool credits you with the slowest riders time plus 5%, so you are still in the monthly table. You can do the stages any time during their active period (roughly a week) and can have multiple goes to log the best time you can.
You need to be a premium member for the Multi-player rides, or for the video or 3D views, where you can see the other riders avatars.
You can ride solo without being a Premium member, but the experience will be diminished in many ways, you will not have a 3D view or video, which can be useful on the solo rides as it gives you something to focus on.
It is good to have people to ride with, no matter what ability level, as it can get lonely at the front or the back, or indeed in the middle, and having someone to chase, draft or try to drop can be very motivating. Particularly on a fast section, getting together and taking it in turns to lead and draft can much increase your overall pace, and allow you to catch faster riders, just like in reality!
I think most people here would say that the group dynamics give great motivation and support and make the whole experience much more involving, and the training really helps to improve ability and endurance.
Cheers,
Geoff
