Great quote Randy.
I thought I'd heard it before so I googled it. It's used by the excellent Alan Rickman playing Hans Gruber in 'Die Hard'. Possibly my favourite Christmas movie of all time.

Was excellent alas the great man is no more of this earth.

Sorry - red wine came first tonight .... should be doing a ride tomorrow afternoon, probably aim for about 4 o'clock ish

I'd kill a glass of wine but I am looking after my mum this weekend until Wednesday down in deepest Kent.
Went past Mere at circa 09:00 and Basingstoke about an hour later and got to Ashford at 11:30 (not a bad run really)
However it's:
No alcohol
No Internet, other than 4G on the phone
No turbo trainer
Until Wednesday.

It could be the rest I need but it will drive me nuts.

Looking at the detailed stats of that ride it doesn't look out of place to me so no need to apologise for saving it I think!

Bkool watts are obviously inaccurate but we can at least compare between ourselves and our previous rides and averaging 380 "Bkool watts" is about right for winning a chaingang stage if you look at the other stages - and certainly not beyond what we know you can do when in form! I'd say your previous ride with only 250 bkool watts was more unusual for you than this one
Well, yes maybe more unusual, but closer to reality.

A little dose of reality - Richie Porte while attempting to break away from the peleton in the final stage of Cadel Evans Ocean race:

The numbers I have been using for training with TrainerRoad are in ball park to what Richie Port records, albeit I weigh probably twice as much:laugh:. 370W for 1 minute on/off intervals. 280-310W for over and under sessions.

Bkool do make you laugh sometimes with their power calculations, good moral booster:crazy:

But surely it cannot be that difficult to change in bsim? On another note I am such a fool. When sprinting on bkool or that other place, especially out of the saddle, I have been holding the hoods. I finall tried low in the drops and what a difference. I cannot believe it has taken me this long to apply rlr techniques:rolleyes:

I agree Bob, but bkool doesn't have the incentive yet, whilst it's selling its own trainer in large numbers.

Re sprinting and power, I find it easier to make power and cadence when in the time trial position with my hips forward and more open angle than on the Tripster which has a touring position. I might try and reverse seat post and reposition seat. I don't want to mess too much now as trip is only a few weeks away.

( resists urge to lay into bkool and annoy others)

A cautious approach is probably best Andy. You have your power and stamina is hopefully coming along. Anything that messes with your position and what your body is used to might be counter productive at this stage unless you have time to adapt.

Andy. See my recent posts about reversing the seat post. As AAAC says, unless you have a seat post like mine it is not possible to reverse it because your seat will end up at a very strange upward pointing angle. You will need the type with the circular serrated interfaces so you can swivel the seat around to overcome this. Once done it should allow you to get that TT position with the seat much further forward. I still have some experimenting to do with mine but need to get my tyre problem resolved first.

Going to be doing CG4 today at about 3 o'clock (need to finish in time for the England/France game  ) If anyone fancies joining me let me know and we can agree suitable start time. Not going to be pushing too hard as it's a long hard one () so could be a nice pootle for some of you.
