Yeah based on our team's organisation at the start and general teamwork and drafting, the other Nations cup teams will be thinking they don't have much to fear!!
Not the easiest course to draft though as there are a number of steep downhills. Other than putting my brakes on there was little I could do to slow down, but looking back at the video poor old AAAC was trying hard to keep up.

As always, thanks @gbrown Good fun. Thanks @Marino.g and @Jim Brown .... nice riding. Sorry I couldn't keep up on the downs! Pity @rob01792 didn't have the legs tonight - I tried to come back for you early on but you seemed to be holding back and not catching up, which is what I do when I want the team to crack on ... hope I read that right :okay:
Thanks team, sorry my drafting skills weren't up to much and I did get confused with the rod and rob situation.
Thought I was holding you up going uphill but my weight helped going down.
Enjoyed it.

So what's the verdict, TTT again next week? Try that course again or is there something more suitable?

We could try Tin Can Ten, as that is a Time Trial course?

I think the teams worked out OK'ish, Team White (?) seemed well matched, especially if Rob gets back on form, Team Blue were machines as ever, but the middle teams are always difficult to get right.

Hopefully with Andy, Tommy, Bob, etc. back in health with healthy trainers, and kinder commuting we might even make four teams one day...
I def cannot make next Tuesday as I have another commitment. But will def plan to be doing these as much as possible going forward - love the TTTs :okay:

I must say, i was cycling like i'd stole it to try and keep up with you on that long descent!! Really enjoyed working with you and Jim on the flats and inclines.

Looks like you all had a lot of fun hiding just how strong and fast you will be in the Nations Cup:tongue:

Does anyone recall the name of a course we did spring into summer last year, about 40km or more, largely flat so great for drafting. We rode through water due to bkool glitches or flooding^_^.

There is one around 45km up in northern Norway so I recall riding. It was a shortened version o the 84km route I think and there was a bit of water to splash through so I recall. If you ride it on the video there is some great scenery!

I was thinking of doing 2 laps (well four really as 1 lap is really two). Need plenty of drafting opportunities, but not too flat as that gets boring!

It would certainly fine tune drafting as its up and down, all over the place but it isn't a course that promotes rhythm or speed.. IMHO.. plus I've nearly died every time I've done it.. and I hate the thought of passing that pub four times..

I felt strong tonight, I certainly enjoyed it. When Rod went past like a bullet i thought it was Rob.....

Good team work to the end - Sorry we dropped Rob. :okay:
@Jim Brown you don't appear to be a member of the Cyclechat Handicap Chase group, so your results don't appear in the classifications.

If you want to apply to join on the web site, I'll accept you in time for any future rides! :welcome:

This has happened before Geoff where I've been a member and then had to ask to join again.. I was a member of lejog as well and that disappeared?

Thanks for the heads up..

Yep sorry guys, my bad.
I had to take HID into town.
I thought she said I could drop her off at 18:45 but that was too early for her as her friends would not be there until 7 so I dropped her of a 18:55.
I also thought there was a ten minute warm up and then 0 hour started so I wouldn't need to join until 19:15.
Anyway I joined what I thought was early and checked the 'Cyclists' list and saw DP and Bridgy there so I quickly joined in.
Unfortunately I had my view set on the 1st Person View and as I joined I thought everyone was already away so I set off in chase just to see Bridgy and DP disappear behind me on the leader board so I then thought I would quickly log out and then in again during which time DP and Bridgy had decided to go after me or it just coincided with the start time anyway so I ended up chasing them in doing myself in by doing so.

DP/Bridgy. For whatever reason I really struggle going downhill. Pushing a constant 110 RPM plus sets my heart racing and I quickly tire.
Conversely Bridgy seemed to suffer when the gradient went above 2 or 3 percent. One second we would all be ticking along a 340 watts and when the steeper incline started Bridgy dropped back and I would have to drop my power to about 260 watts. Perhaps this is what LB is seeing as well.
I did the downhill Jacobs Cup course straight after and I struggled to average of 310 watts so I think that I should step back in that stage and let DP and Bridgy forge ahead with whoever and concentrate on helping the rest of the team.
My time will be on the uphill session and then I think we may need to elect a free-stiler for the track who can go with the leaders and the rest of us team pursuit it to the finish and then depending on the possibility of taking higher places individuals who feel strong can atempt to make up some places.

We really could do with comm's though!

Well, it was a fortuitous misunderstanding, as I had asked you to suddenly switch teams and try and catch Bill and Steve, when I couldn't see Rod in the session and they needed a third player. Really cruel to ask so late for you to chase most of the race, but you did great and it worked well in the end.

Really need to get just a few more riders to make it work better, you're all working too hard, think about your work/bkool balance! ;)

I wonder if more people would be able to attend at the weekend? But with the chaingang rerun and the WC, you've got quite a lot on anyway.

@BILL S, were you thinking of changing the Chaingang runs into WC runs for a while?

Geoff, if it helps with the numbers then we could do the TTT on Saturdays instead of the chaingang re-run. That would free up Tuesdays for anyone wanting to do the WC. I had previously thought about having a WC ride on the Saturday but doing the TTT then works just as well.
We'd better see if enough of us are available to make up the teams on Saturdays.

I was thinking for the track, each person tag your particular opponent but just sit on them and do no work. Then blast away and catch the next person up, sit on and then blast off again. I should be able to track the leaders in the velo, I can put out some high watts for a couple of laps at high speed just to shake things up, and then hammer the finish. I should also be a little lighter by then...
