dear bkool users
please forgive me for i have sinned
quite a lot actually - apart from the one where you tamper with nextdoors cow ! i think i have done the other 6 with gusto and i am now paying for it . please dont black ball me just yet but it maybe a week or 2 of secret punishment before i am back in my rightul place of driving the clearup van - but i will be back

Dear Berty,

The Clearup Van job is still available with the Mountain Goats if you're interested and it is a paid position (in bkool points of course). So there is a pending invite waiting for you should you choose to accept it.

Regards.

Don't be shy. Puerto Mijares beckons. 1:00:15 to beat.

It was freezing up in my loft so I forgot to drink water. Weighed myself afterwards and I was 76kg (-2kg). Do I get to input that as my new bkool weight? :becool:

Guys, I've just published January's Thursday Night CC League, I hope you like it.

For those who like to get in an early run, Stage 1 should start tomorrow (or Tuesday, knowing BKool's vague approach to dates), but the group runs are all scheduled for the usual 7pm on Thursday.

I have tried to password protect the sessions, so if it works you should have to enter cyclechat as the password.

Hopefully something for everyone.

On Week 2 there's a Group Velodrome session, but as these don't seem to show up in the league, I'll just start a Velodrome session at the appropriate time, and try and make it a timed session, so it's down to how many laps you manage in the, say, 20 minutes. Then there's a very short climb to follow, to give something to include in the league that week.

The other weeks include a mix of stages, a moderate run with ups and downs, another with some added flat sections for drafting, a short rolling course and the monthly climb, a 30 minute climb from the 100 climbs.

7pm Thurs Jan 1st - Moderate c.45 min. 10Km mix of climbs and flats - RUTA CISTER ETAPA 3
7pm Thurs Jan 8th - the Group Velodrome then a short 1.2 Km climb - Salcombe Hill (No. 12)
7pm Thurs Jan 15th - the Local choice - c. 30 min easy - Dipford Loop (my local easy training run)
7pm Thurs Jan 22nd - the Monthly Climb - c. 30 min climb up Haytor Vale (No 9 in 100 climbs)
7pm Thurs Jan 29th - Moderate c.45 min. 18Km of climbs, flats and some descents - Ponferrada 2014

Hope to see as many of you as can make it on Thursday night,

Geoff
Looks like a great Jan line-up! I'm hopeful of doing the live thursday session this week, lookinbg forward to it! Thanks Geoff for organising.

So I've set up the first Mountain Goats league which should go live tomorrow.

Puerto Mijares. 12.2 miles, 3D & Video. 30/12/14 to 05/01/15
Mont Ventoux. 13.4 miles, Video. 06/01/15 to 12/01/15
Issarbe. 11.7 miles, Video. 13/01/15 to 19/01/15
Pla de Beret. 13.4 miles, Video. 20/01/15 to 27/01/15
OMG WTF etc... gulp... Will have to see if I can face attempting that lot. I'm not in the Jan overtraining spirit just yet...

Will try and get involved with some of these. Weathers not been too bad in the south, so have been happily spending time out on the roads.

I don't think the mountain goat category is for me yet, the broom wagon would be overtaking me everytime!!

Nowhere near you but glad I finished it.. off to collapse somewhere.

1:09:45 is the standard set for the broom wagon, beat it if you can ;)

Well you just got that little bit stronger and fitter. That's what I always tell myself anyway.

Yeah, collapsing somewhere afterwards is always the best bit

Hi Geoff!

Just in case your wondering who I am its Richy from the Thursday night Bkool league! Being a complete technical novice I'm not quite sure how this league thing works! I assumed that I had joined the league as I received the email about January's rides. I saw yesterday that on my scheduled rides was the first of januarys outings, which was scheduled for the 4th January. I assumed that as per the email this could be ridden anytime between the 30th December and the 3rd of January. Probably like an idiot I attempted the ride today from the league tab in the bsim app. All went well (if not a little slowly!) and I saved the ride only for it not to appear anywhere on my bkool web page! Any ideas as I don't particularly fancy doing it again! Also where can I find the actual league results, or do I have to wait til the 4th January?

Cheers

Richy

Hi, Richy.

You are a member of the league, and if you selected the ride from the league tab you did the correct thing, but I'm afraid I can't see your ride anywhere either, it's not waiting in the league for classification.

If it's not on your "My Activity" tab on Bkool then it has not yet uploaded. I can see on your wall that you did the ride on the 29th, but that was before the league session went active.

P.S. it very kindly shows on your Home ride if the session was a league session, like this ...

If you close the Bkool indoor simulator quickly, sometimes it can miss being uploaded until you run the simulator again, especially if your using Wi-Fi.

Best thing is to re-run the simulator on the computer/tablet on which you did the run, and then check Settings -> About Bkool Indoor down at the bottom of the Settings menu.

Here it lists any outstanding sessions remaining to send (and any failed sessions). If this is zero, check your My Activity tab on the Bkool web site, and if it is not there either, you have no choice but to wait and see if it appears eventually.

The Thursday night leagues are primarily aimed at a group ride at 7pm (UK time) each Thursday, when as many of us as possible turn up and try to find the session on the live tab, then drop our chains on the start line and watch all the rest disappear into the distance, shouting something like "I could have had you all ..."

Each session is scheduled for the whole week, though, so you can get some practice in, or if anyone misses the group ride they can have a go at drafting all of us in turn and then claim to have beaten us all unaided... or is that just me?

The results show up in the League tab under Share, but the current session only shows recent results if you select the actual session itself in the stages list, just above the classification.

Funnily enough on last weeks ride (The Tuesday night when we horsed around a bit) my ride never showed up anywhere either. Even though I saved it normally. Could just be a one off quirk but I think its perhaps related to having done the ride before, as I think you've mentioned that Richy has done.

@ Bill, I see there is a nice badge on Strava to climb 20,150 feet (6,142 meters) between January 1st and January 31st.
Seems stupid to me that trainer rides don't count, its just as hard as we all know, you would do that easily me thinks.

If my garmin battery would last the whole 24 hours I think I'd get close to that figure on my mtb race later in January. Last year it was only good for 16 hours. But on the bkool I think I do about 20,000 ft per week at the moment in training for that race. No doubt be training for something else after that ;).
