Just "a machine" that makes stuff for you.She doesn't understand it yet,,,
Barred from the garage space as xmas items kept there..
Yep, trying the short file as soon as yellow delivered.
I'll hopefully compare the two and see if any different on such a detailed object.
It's more after the problems of the first printer I had, I went out last night whilst it was in operation..
just glad such a long job worked well.
It was discussed about opening during the hols and agreed if enough wanted to appear..
Think folk get jaded with holiday time at this time of year...an ideal few hours escape..
sales, no?
I had a look at the yellow PLA a few times and I'm convinced thy use an algorithm to either up the price or reduce depending on how often it is looked at..
Household work calls...
Just "a machine" that makes stuff for you.
You're barred from the garage! You on the naughty list already.
The devil will be in the detail then.
Yer chomping at the bit, when the gate opens(delivery of PLA) you'll be off.
Only takes one poor experience to make you wary. You'll get there though.
How many dragons have you done now?
Away to a more more normal Friday...
You sure you've not been looking at the sales.
Plenty of looking, but how many buying after looking. Or even just watching the item.
Do they take that into consideration I wonder.
Household duties nearly completed now...
Always a good idea. You did read the manual that came with it.I like to know the ins and outs of anything I use...
and try different methods of doing anything...
we have a magnifying glass somewhere but think one of our kids have it.
I started it off with red (more a deep orangey red), thought brilliant yellow might look daft..
Parcel man much later.
Nah, don't need anything...
Aye, light duties today.
Another day of wetness plus snow alert downgraded to heavy snow and heavy rain, we are in the highlighted area so could be either.
PS I haven't checked in two hours...someone is napping
wait and see something will happen when I break the habit....
Always a good idea. You did read the manual that came with it.
Borrowed it and they never returned it! That's almost grounds for excommunication, that is.
That fire orange you used before. Ideal colour for a dragon.
Only one way to find out if it would look daft.
Has he been yet?
Be careful who hears you saying that, they might take it literally.
Forecast snow has given way to rain now. No White Christmas, and now no White New Year either. And they promised as well.
Who's napping alone?
A bit like an ordinary printer running out off one ink, but not stopping. If the plastic slips out, does it stop?
And I thought I were bad printing, on paper, for four hours at a time. Results weren't as good as those though.8 hrs 5 mins...
orangey Red is todays..(at .2)
White is (at.12)

Kinda hard to tell if much difference, needs a magnifying glass..
I have found out that choosing the right colour does make a difference, they are articulated ice dragons..
printing file made with same program, only difference was white was .12, they call it Dynamic Quality..
Orange Red was .2, it's called Standard Quality.
The wee fella can choose which one he wants and I'll keep the other one..
you 'add' eyes using felt pen apparently but I'm not much of an artist....no wee jokes now..
Nope, it continues printing..model is wasted...you can pause and add new filament if you are quick enough. As long as you don't move the printhead..
I'm now going to try learn 'supports'.....
Off to log up and have a cold one....
OwdoMorning all
After the 'get a couple of loaves in, more milk etc', they downgrade the WX alert of horrendous snow.
You know what will happen now?
2 flakes will fall in the SE and a national emergency will be called....
How was that for Sunday sarcasm?
I'm sure the wee fella will be delighted,And I thought I were bad printing, on paper, for four hours at a time. Results weren't as good as those though.
The orange appears to be showing more detail. Might be down to colour alone showing more detail.
The orange one will be finding a new house, leaving you with the white one.
Permanent marker eyes should be doable...
It can leave a gap in the printing then. Understand why you're not willing to leave it to itself just yet.
These "supports" to aid the printing process or as part of the structure?
You got many to add to yer log for today.
Enjoy the cold 'un....
Owdo
Sounds about right. But suppose no-one sees them falling, do they still count.
Afraid I'll have to go all "school reporty" on you, Must try harder!
I'm sure he will be. At £15 each I can see orders heading your way when he goes back to school.I'm sure the wee fella will be delighted,
15 quid is the going rate for them (according to someone who bought one at a school fete)..
Etsy has them a bit cheaper...
some amazing ones on there, might try some of the fancy coloured PLA....
I have made three of the 14 inch ones (35.6 cms) so that'll do it...
I'm doing something with 'supports' just now...
I just can't seem to catch how much I have to 'use'
oh well....
Maccy's cafe earlier...
off to play radio..
may have visitors later..
It may be them....aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh
Oh well..
I must drown my sorrows in alcohol then....
any excuse, eh?
I'm sure he will be. At £15 each I can see orders heading your way when he goes back to school.
Do they cost that much to print. Okay they take a while, and probably have eyes but still seems a bit on the steep side.
Sounds like a "must have" item for the start of the new year.
Don't the files for the printer come with supports where needed? Or are they "clean", leaving you to work out if, and where, they're required.
It'll come to you when you least expect it.
Last one of the year!
Just put the do not disturb sign on the door. Obviously this sign excludes being brought refreshments.
And if it isn't them, what then....
Any port, rum/whisky/gin in a storm.
Do you need an excuse.
There's nearly always a positive side to be found...
For now...Nah, made enough..
90% happy with the latest one,
using supports and rafts..
Rafts are the mesh laid on the bottom, you will it on the images BUT very tough to remove, the finished model still has some there (filed down low)
You can see the supports in between the letters...one bloop, see image..
it came loose but the method of laying was from back to front and got away with it.
Finished model

you can see where it came away, now filed down (emery board) Mesh prominent.

Base, mesh and supports, see P and A
For now...
Only 90% happy. Could do better?
Under the "P" and "A". Do they need to be that heavy, or is this what you're trying to work out.
On the G! Sharp knife will have that gone, if you want it gone.
Can't you cut it of with a pair of wire cutters, then smooth the area down? There are various plastic cutters that are flat faced, but not worth buying unless you're doing loads.
What's on the turntable that you printed a Now Playing piece.
Another commission piece! It's not for me..
more likely Ms Swift..
It isn't that heavy, it's more a lightweight support of ' letter' in this case,
The program which processes (slices) the CAD created file will 'look' for the areas that possibly need support...
toughish to remove but it doesn't take much to rub it down...
anyway nothing in the pipeline....
lazy evening..
chilled glass in hand filled with the usual brew..
Another commission piece!
You listen to Ms Swift!!
Looks heavy enough compared to the "P" it's lending support to. Whoever came up the file must know better than either of us.
On the underside the letters probably isn't as noticeable.
Not yet anyway. I think the dragon may be printed again. New years prediction from me.
Do you have any other sort of evening?
The old apple juice...
