I probably wouldn't recognise anyone...
had a wee trip into the Kingdom earlier, I'd promised Mrs M I'd treat her to lunch..
Cullen Skink to start no less..
no words can describe this soup...
or the burping I've done since eating my portion:laugh:
We'd cut through the Home of (expensive) Golf then just headed back west.....
The wee Clio has done some miles this week.....

Got a nice big deck to sunbathe or cycle on, mind you :cycle:
They surely did and the memories of how I used to eat them will do.
I imagine they must farm them now....

I'm avoiding the dib dib place tonight, I'll give it another week...

WX was sunny but breezy as 'eck..
They might recognise you though. Saw someone in May this year that reckoned I'd not changed since he last saw me, over fifty years ago.
Cullen Skink the name of what you had to eat, the place where you ate it or summat else?
Would a sharp shock help stop the burping, a bit like it's supposed to with hiccups.
You don't do expensive golf I take it...
Clio, I thought you had a GM!

Nip out first thing and do a few laps of the deck. Close to shelter if there's a sudden downpour.
Aye, in wire cages in some places. Stops the local wildlife getting a free meal.
By the bucketful/potful at yer "boilings"?

Better safe than sorry. Don't want another dose of it.

Changed the wee Chevy a while ago.

Google 'Cullen Skink'....
I never did expensive golf...as I look at my only golf trophy
I obviously don't play anymore, I think they are three or four sets of clubs here...
mine and the kids but none of them play now..

I said to Mrs M, time to go get a picking of whelks..
THAT look of horror..

that'll be a no then...

Know you changed cars, but thought the new one was a GM not a Renault.

I got a "cafe" with the same name in amongst the results when I did.
How many can actually afford "expensive golf" these days.
You thought of a crazy golf course in yer garden?

Stopped you in yer tracks, and decided not to say anything else. You pointed out the health benefits of picking yer own, and the saving on her pocket/purse.

Keep a bucket in the car, just in case she changes her mind.

Whelks are a marmite thing...
I can see why folk go green at thought of wielding a pin,
I only eat what I pick...
you never know where others pick....

Not given up on golf yet,
might head down to the range and keep my swing in..
pensioner discount helps:laugh:
Basically I don't know anyone here who plays..
we'll see.
Off to organise my day after brekkie

Looks like an up and down weekend wx wise,

I'm getting the usual squint yer eyes due to the sun streaming in:laugh:
Owdo
Forecast to be the start of the latest warm spell today.
No mention of rain, today or tomorrow, so far...
You still without a blackout blind.

Marmite Whelks. You could be on to a market winner there.
One way of staying safe I suppose. Just stay away from any that glow in the dark. Unless you've plans to use them to power a project.

My cousin were into it a few years ago. Practicing his swing in the field outside the house he gave me a club to see if I were any good. Missed the ball, but the club went a good forty yards when it slipped from my grip.
How much is the pensioners discount?
No open garage doors as you go past, revealing bags of clubs bought and no longer used to give you a clue?
Brekkie first, then see what the day holds sounds like a decent plan.

Theory for the Firth was that the main channel was dredged down the south bank so any effluent etc etc would be taken out on the southside from the built up area, the N shore therefore wouldn't be as minging and polluted.
You knew where to pick and if you knew a 'clabbie' bed, you told no one not even family....
Clabbie Doos as they are really known....
the king of mussels.

A couple of quid cheaper, better than nothing..

Domestic duties calling

Mid-week fer ere. Sofar. But these things, forecasts, change too quick these days
You'll not be troubled early morn much longer then by the sound of things.

That theory work in practice. Effluent would have been dumped, by the river, on the outside of any bend in it.
Fewer built-up areas on the north side?
Ne'er tell yer own family!
Likely to go blabbing about how their clams were better than everyone else's, loose lips and all that.
Would they be the infamous "Man eating Clabbie Doo's"?

Most cheaper things are better than nothing. Not always though.

Were they calling yoooouuu?

Theory on the river(estuary)?
deep shipping channel dredged over years.
Sandbanks in inner estuary literally just fall off into much deeper water at one point,
cracking banks for fishing..

Shellfish beds?
tell no one, take no one....
the clabbies beds take years to recover when they get picked, gold dust..
because most eejits strip them clean of all sizes..
I could tell Mrs M as she thinks shellfish are mostly yuuuuuuuck....

Makes a bit more sense now.
You'd be stood in water less than ankle deep, and fifty feet or so away it could be thirty foot deep.

Seen similar things done. Get as much as possible now, clearing it, then moan when the area can give no more. Always leave summat behind so it can keep on giving.
Suppose having been told she let slip where you got them from?

Still waiting on the thunderstorms....
Out the door....
for being shellfish
My dad used to shell them, boil them and use beetroot juice to keep them.
They never lasted long tbf.
It put me off but he enjoyed them...
Trying to get a decent pickled mussel is hard,
too many of the pickling juices aren't vinegary enough for me.

Been a day....

The yellow thunderstorms are due to have cleared the west coast of ireland around now. The rain in the wee hours..
Hopefully they'll stay out the door.
Was he were you got your taste for all things pickled?
They didn't last long, or keep long.
Were they that good.
You've done your own experimenting on getting the recipie to suit you.

True, true...
Soon be night...
