Only mine I ever visited (at last place)
was a barytes mine, the old buildings were there (1980s) but I'd headed out years later and nothing, all razed and all sorts of health and safety fences etc.
This area and its environs is polluted with old coal workings, I haven't searched many (not that many) out but no sign of any entrances etc, I assume concreted up(bricked) and covered with soil or whatever.
Sadly most of the info is accident reports.
The one with the pit head building was still being worked in the early 60's. Abandoned before 1970. Nothing, apart from a Private Keep Out sign, to stop anyone having a look around.
Others have come to light looking into local history, not directly connected with the mines.
Other than marks on a map you'd never know they were there just looking.

Best one! An old pumping station built for when they were building the nearby tunnel. Pump shaft goes down over 300 foot, and is about 15 foot in diameter, fully lined. The new owner(s) cleared the road up to it, then got beat because they couldn't secure a loan to build anything on it.

Most around here were Victorian or earlier..
the good old days, not.
I've cycled to a few (details from old maps) but nothing except occasional old foundations.
A couple of massive ones but long gone..
Area must be like Swiss cheese beneath the ground, majority would have been just small workings.
Harsh living with yer wife working with you to boost the weekly earnings, kids too.

Ordered something form the country which makes everything and , every time it moves I get a wad of emails

Early ones here as well, I'd say all "worked out" at the turn of the previous century. Bar that one near the town centre, and railway. The others were on what is still open land with not much atop them.
You're not bothered about waking up in your "basement" one morning then.

I bet the e-mails slow down/become less frequent when what you've ordered reaches these shores.

Owdo the house...
You stream the sun! What's wrong with catching it live?
I always found opening my eyes a better idea if I wanted to see.

I'm on the first floor facing E and get it full pelt from dawn to near 11am..
It's a pest, I should have a blackout blind.....
I do prefer it to a wet start to the morning, 2 to 3 mm rain overnight for the plants is ideal....

Did 5 today, got abuse from a lady in a white car...at my efforts of climbing a slight rise..
I drew her a dirty look to which she laughed and shout 'keep pedalling fatty'
Imagine calling me that in front of Toodles.....
I'll get my own back...
They did (or the one item out of four) that has cleared customs and....two days later, We have it !!! well, deliver the flippin thing.....
Two separate orders, first is a single item, the second was what I thought to be one package(order) but now each item comes separately.
Yon Temu has the wind up them......delivery wise...
I buy direct as it cuts the middle man out

How about a pair of sunglasses, I think you trendy folk call them shades. Ready at yer bedside for when you wake up.
A wet start or a wet end to the day is preferable to a wet day.

Maybe you weren't quick enough on the draw!!
You'd Toodles on yer bike?
I used to catch people like her between the many sets of lights. Always going uphill, they'd say summat about me not being quick enough. Truck in front wasn't a good enough reason for going slow. They'd pass, I'd catch and pass them going downhill, be caught at the next set, then pull in front of them.
Have they delivered that one parcel/item yet, or just another e-mail.
You buy direct though temu?
Along with that big river, the land that makes everything, do you not support local shops!!!

I got yon coating that adjusts to light...
still blinding..
Toodles was with granny when I got the abuse...
Long time ago, I was cycling between two villages and decided to stay on main road instead of cycle track, young fella hung out van and gave me a mouthful...
I stopped at Coop for water and there in front of me in't queue was said yobbo..
I tap his shoulder and I said remember me?
Didn't know where to look:laugh:

Item still with them..
their tracking is lousy, more often delivered before they email you.....
I've used temu, yes.
and what I got was just the normal stuff you'd get off ebay sellers.
I've bought all sorts of (small) radio stuff, handhelds, plugs, connectors, leads, coax etc etc..
Local shops get these parts from where I get them plus no radio part shop north of the border now...

Wee trendy, me?
son in law says he can always tell me from a distance when I'm out on the bike by the colour of my socks...bright:cuppa:

Howabout a pair of welders goggles. Good enough to use watching an eclipse with.
You were on yer tod on yer bike?
Doesn't excuse her shouting anything at you.
Had summat similar when working at Hartshead. Pushed off the road by a lorry driver halfway there. Wandering around the trucks parked up, try to find the trailer. Approached by a driver asking what I was up to, explained and was asked if I'd leave it to him to sort out rather than the company. He came back later that morning* to tell me that he and a few other drivers had had words with him, pointing out his error. Given a wider berth from lorry drivers using Hartshead.
And he'd no-where to move either, just stand there hoping the ground would swallow him up, quick?

Is it on this island or Ireland. I've ordered stuff and for some reason it's gone to northern Ireland first, then Liverpool, onto Wakefield(past me on the M62!) before coming back westwards.
E-mail announcing it would soon be delivered usually coming a couple of days after it had been.
DHL don't seem to bother where they deliver stuff to, so long as it's out of their system.
Local radio shop, 3/8 mile away closed a good few years back now. Maplins went not that long ago. Getting small parts isn't easy.
What sort of person looks at the socks being worn by someone else. Unless they're a colour that really stands out!

Didn't you tell me to follow your lead, of being trendy, by streaming my music not that long ago?

*Working there at the time four days a weekend.

Boy just had that 'oh s**t' looks..
not doing something builds the 'hold on what's he going to do'.

Anyhow, looking forward for the plants and pots to get a good dousing later..
those watered and transplanted got a good maxicrop feed earlier..

Much easier to stream music now, I share costs with my kids etc..

means I pay it most months
Maplins and Tandy were handy..
I dunno if ham radio stuff is available except south of the border or mostly online..
Place in Fife closed a couple of years ago....
Possible to get some stuff from a place in Glasgow but limited availability.
I use mostly one in Walsall.
Cheap handhelds are Chinese now and cheap as chips if they go wrong, you can just toss away at that price.....

You still believing those weather forecasts?
They never seem to last long when you get them. Have you thought about trying to get them lasting longer by drinking less, or weak coffee?
Maybe grow yer own next year, save money that way...
It'll be to reward you for your labours, won't it!

Hope you give them a similar look back.
It'd be around that time I'd be making them aware of the chain being carried, usually made them a wee bit wary.

Will that be you or Mother Nature doing the dousing.

Do they know they're sharing with you?

Tandy were in town, Maplins were over Bradford. Both of which did yer radio stuff.
Think the nearest place now, for me, is one over Leeds way. If they still have the shop open.
What happened to fixing it before thinking about throwing?

Rain due very soon and longer spells, Mutt Off says latest.
They were okay for odd parts but radios seem to be specialised, Tandy did cracker scanners..
I almost bought one recently, model I originally had..
It was some nick when you looked very closed at it, crumbs everywhere LOL, greasy looking.
I'm torn between getting a base station or just persevering with the SDRuno SDR box I have....
which is the bees knees TBH.
No Toodles today...
just Beag soon.
Headed out on bike, coming up last wee rise and felt something wrong at front, fairy 'visit' so hobbled home, fixed 'it', blew tyre up, back on bike, walked by it and it went POP!!!!!! I must have done something wrong LOL, nicked it..gave inside of tyre a good check too but nothing so obviously a thorn or something, oh well, try again in the morning..

You can feel the rain in the here. It's gonna rain, just when and how bad remain to be seen.
I've still got Maplins last full catalogue at home, I'll have have a gander through it later. Nearly bought an airband radio from the local store, but bought it from a local shop, who were £20 cheaper. Never fully trusted Tandy.
That the one you posted the picture of a while back?
Go with what you have. More money to spend on other stuff...
Home from nursery? If you paid them extra, would they keep him longer?
Could have happened at the furthest point, fairy were being kind to you and trying to tell you summat as well when it went again at home.
In the blazing light of early morn!
