Yer'd be spilling yer drink, that'd be wasteful. Why not get a second glass that would never be empty?

Best o'luck on the MOT front.
Spare parts are harder come by for us.

Pleasant surprise, calling on an empty band, got a call back from what I thought was a Japanese station, worked him then discovered that's a funny name for a Asian fellow, it was a JY4, first ever, woohoo....
evening now made...
Out'n'aboot for a wee drive tonight...
wanted a photo of this mural (or 'Muriel' per Pippa York)

Listening just in case?
What's/where's a JY4, and are they rare or something.
Did he sound Japanese?
What's yer procedure for first contact then.
Nice. Hopefully there'll be no idiots spoiling the work that went into that.

JY4? Jordan..
I just set off a 5 or 6 call sequence and if they want they can hit my call and send their electronic noises back to me, youtube FT8...
It's been up for a while I think..
well done and has captured the early 'cyclist' well..
am off now..

Only a few miles difference between the two places. Did his accent not give him away?
You think, you mean to say you don't know!
Who's this "early cyclist" you mention.
Anywhere good?

T'is a damp one down here.

No voice, just the chatter of electronic 'noises' exchanged..
I feel, I could be lost depending on the English known by anyone I spoke with, 9 times out of 10, it's 'you are 59' 'info on QRZ' 'thanks for the contact, 73' I'd repeat the same.. done, dusted in 60 secs..
There are 'nets' where you get the chance to ragchew with others..
I avoid them....
I can hardly talk to myself

Not certain about how much fell here overnight
You said hello as it passed you by.
No elbow in the ribs either?
Still summer though.

No talking, the machines will be doing it all for you soon. Including the logging, and the posting. They'll want paying first though.
English not the best. Like a load of "english folk", who struggle with it.
Done in 60 seconds. That's a possible 60 an hour, 1440 per day...
You could learn a few words of a foreign language other than english.
So long as you haven't started answering yerssen, you're safe.

Plus que moi...
Das Gleiche gilt für dich und deine...

Natural progression can only do so much. Then the cash has to do some talking.
Last time I tried ham radio, it was voice with a little Morse thrown in.
They're due to start selling off the pylons on the national grid, and some of the ones they're keeping they want people to "adopt" one. Might come in handy if you're looking for a larger aerial.

Any idea why they decided to stop talking?

Voice is still well used....
Some folk have their favourite..
I prefer data..
a) it gives us low power stations more chance, right place at right time. I'm happy with someone down the road calling back as across the world, nice to get a bit of DX occasionally.

busy day tomorrow....

Do you have preset data packages ready for sending?
You've never thought about upping your power level, going upwards rather than sideways.
You started later!
There seems to no entries from Ireland.
Don't tire yourself out. Save yourself for the weekends cycling.

Not a power junkie...
I'm allowed 400 watts
I'm in low tens, very low..
Surprising how even 500mW can get you, there is a mode called WSPR
which I occasionally do but not as much now, I'll go down to 500mW although 5W is normal but due to my awfy inefficient antenna, 5w doesn't go out the wire, it is more like 3 at a push..
I originally built the antenna to go out portable, it's commonly known as a 'Rybakov', 9m fishing pole (fibreglass), I hadn't done anything for HF when I first moved in and thought this'll do just now (less the pole and it's still there..
I'm being summoned..
