Slow reader? Helps retain what you've read.
I'm the same when it comes to books or any reading material for that matter. Always have been.

You had to explain, to anyone, exactly what you're doing yet. Or do they just go the long way round.
You know there were two different types due to the screech, or a flyby visual.
Take out the background noise. You'll be half asleep later on, unless you're outside.

Old place built on what was wet ground?
Think of the weight loss, and the "Midge Diet" book that could come from it!

She doesn't mind helping you out in your pursuit of your hobbies.
Nowhere within walking distance...

You'll have summat to watch before venturing out into the night, again.
Brekkie enjoyed?

Brekkie was a 'Glasgow Oyster'
mince pie on a roll..
just about to make porridge when the Boss arrived back and the pie was still hot so...........

screech and diff frequency...
can't attach any audio files.....
I'll have a few nights off..

west coast of Scotland is a haven for the dreaded beasties..

Local delicacy?
And you immediately thought east not want not. Did The Boss let you have both?
Spent clearing up the recordings you've got so far.
Pitch and frequency, you got any plans to build anything to attract them to where you are.

They must like the weather down that side of Scotland.

The W coast is has a higher rainfall..
therefore the beastie heaven..

Think I posted this before

Cleaning up and editing bits out doesn't take long..
a line from detector to recorder would be helpful
my phone hasn't got a headphone socket but I have an old one but I can't get past the passcode..
I have an old android which may work..

attract? only if I have fleas or flies.....

That's why I wondered if the "old place" was built on former wet ground. It can take a few years for them to pass the message down.
Thought you were immune to them, having lived there that long.

Aye, you have, but on another thread.

What'll you be editing out. Don't the gaps in between screeches count as part of the screech overall?
What's the problem with the passcode.
Store the recording(s) on a card, then use a card reader.

You don't have any!

Feedback stuff and maybe long gaps....
Jeez, no anytime I've been through in the evening it is open season on me......

I can pick up a cheapo mini recorder, I'm not fussed, direct input should be handier..
we'll see....

Fair enough.
Yer not immune!
They probably think your from outside the area, so you're an open target.

Cheap digital or tape?
And try and pick up a cheap plug in mike, clearer recordings. You'll know that though.

You were early for the afternoon though.
Coffee and scone..
then looking for a shrub for Mrs M and a caterpillar but found two but both been in the wars..
an excuse to head out...

My not being a summer person more likely comes from the constant attacks.
I'm not fond of the heat either...
I remember Mrs M talking about retiring to the Algarve...
nope, not me sorry...
we ended up in central Jockland instead....

I'll peruse the mini recorder market at some point, nothing grand but a joint MP3 plyer type could be handy.

I tried poking the detector mike out this window and jeez, lots of ultrasound stuff going on in here, might sit out the back for 15-20 mins and see but have never noticed any activity but a farm not that far away so who knows...

Think the two/three recordings are of two types soprano pipistrelle and common pipistrelle

Jam or cream first?
Why's "Da Boss" want a Caterpillar?
Being out beats being in, when yer dry.

Yer not a winter person either, which doesn't leave much in between to enjoy.
You want to get one of those electric fly swatters, looks like a tennis racket, and head back for an afternoon.
You could have stood on the dockside and waved her off.
A bit of a difference between the two, weatherwise at least. Then there's s the lingo to learn...

You reckon you'll find the source?
Any HV/HT power lines nearby?

I"m awaiting the book coming out on yer activities. Detailing how you laboured for months with nothing to show. Then the "aha"/lightbulb moment, that allowed you to further the research.

Butter only..
two portions Lurpak..
half a scone to one portion...
cappuccino only before 11am...

I liked the caterpillar....

just in from a detect..
quite a few weak echoes tonight, nothing too near to me..
maybe its my feet emitting a fetid aroma:laugh:
same soprano rat-a-tat..

told Mrs M once I should write my autobiography..
No, Niet, Nein, Non etc etc...in a loud bossy manner..

That stopped you having to worry which should go first. Good thinking "Bat Man"!
Nothing after?

What are you going to call it..

You think it could be the same bat?
Anything further on the ultrasound.
Keep yer shoes on tomorrow night, see if that helps.

Take it she doesn't think it'd sell very well, after all the work you'll have put into it. Or, maybe she's plans on writing it as a ghost writer.

Good morning :hello:
The hunt for the caterpillar planter is over....
Cecil (pronounced Seesill) is now on the wee decking bit.....
plant choice yet to be determined, thought dianthus first but colour clash perhaps so another trip out to look for something yellow, thinking Helianthemum Beinn Fhada (yellow with a darker centre)..
Big rain spots but seem to have come to nothing...

I don't mind home made jam on't scone but at the last distribution, Mrs M didn't take any but the rest of the Mhors got more than heir share, bad Mrs M.
Very faint echoes last night but I did get three rapid but very low on the only recording but the tell tale rat-a-tat.
Might try a wee walk up through the wood but depends on how I feel.

Ah well..
off to get things done

maybe

Owdo
What you done to/with them now you've found them.
Cecil and Co. doing ok!
Who has the final say on plant choice. You headed up the hills?
They're saying later this afternoon, now.
