I might just try to catch part of it then, depends.
Were they long play though?
Thought it were down to a slower speed allowing more on the record.

Don't read the labels/packaging, save yourself worrying about stuff like that.
Over three hours tonight..
Its the type of sport you can watch and do things as well.

LP was 33 RPM, 78 were 78 and singles were 45 as were 12" singles.....
CDs a much better idea but sound was sanitized as recording techniques had advanced so far..
had an 8 track which ran off a car battery,
I got to know some Holy Loch base bubble heads who got me booze and tapes rather cheap....
and is where I got my Green Bay Packers and Yankee stuff from...
the local paper in Greenock used to have the baseball scores

any way, no 61 yet....

Forgot about it!
Was it worth watching?
What sort of "other things ".

You know your records I see.
CD's I'm still on vinyl and tapes, with about a dozen CD's(The only format they were/are available in.).
Car batteries had other uses, outside of cars, that many may never thought about.

American personnel in the locality supplying you with all things American. Was this a mutual exchange system in place for such delights/delicacies.

Will you get yer 61, without hitting anyone?

Play radio, browse the web and others of your choice...

I did my DJ in the early to mid '70s so it was a great way to get import stuff, all you got in the now faded old holiday town was the top 10 unless you ordered it:laugh:
They introduced me to US booze and I taught them the glories of fortified wine etc etc:wacko:
I still live in the 70s..

almost my first words each morning are 'Hey google play absolute radio 70s'

off to speak downstairs and grab brekkie

Owdo

Play radio, there's(or there was) a station with that name. You might not like my choices...

Can't picture you as a DJ, no matter how hard I try. The news from further afield I can understand, for that time.
No still can't picture you as a DJ.
A "Whisky on a Sunday", Seth Davey kind of place, especially now.

Which did you prefer, their whisky or your wine?
Not much wrong with the 70's. We may not have had much, but we had enough.

Absolute Radio still going. They used to broadcast from a studio in Bradford city centre, in the mid eighties.

You'll have finished yer breakfast and be on domestics now.

Having problems with the site, very slow loading at the best of times so far today.

A domestics day right enough..
the smell of bleach wafting everywhere:wacko:

Got a liking for Southern Comfort...oddly with tonic water...

Absolute have who knows how many channels and a new subscription service , I just use the 70s one.

Funny, I used to get £2 a night (and beer)at my first place, it was 17p a pint so I use that to today's prices, it was 7 until 10...
I did 4 nights a week, I did it for a pal who worked shifts...
The next place (where eventually I'd meet the future Mrs M) was a £5:ohmy:, it was originally a ballroom.
I did a Friday..
once shared a stage with Slik....
all good clean fun..
8 until 12 and odd night 1 if a band as well.
I tried to persuade to do soul all nighters but council and plod said no....
it was good fun and the money paid for my train fares to see her indoors across the other side of the country..

Have you any bleach left unused?

Bleach dried yer throat out. Can be dangerous, driving you to forgoe yer food due to an odd taste in the mouth.
Even now you're in the early stages, yearning for tonic water in Southern Comfort!!

And to think, I turned down an offer of appearing on one of their late night-early morning shows. What might have bin...

Those were days. How much were pickled eggs? Presumably the council had no problem with you moonlighting as a DJ.
Would that have been the Scottish "Galtymore"? £5 in or £5 pay.
Didn't they mind you trying to sings along with them. You know you tried...
"Bob the raver", long before raves were raves. Wonder why the police tried stopping yer advancing yer career.

£5 in hand..
I hadn't started with the council by then,
I was staying in that faded holiday town in North Ayrshire,
the place I had gone for the day in 1971 and came back home in 1977..
I was earning good money helping build concrete oil rigs at the time I started the £5 gig....

All night soul stuff like in the N of England, there was an occasional one oop here in Jockland, they were very popular.
I'd gone down to Wigan for one.....and thought great idea..

Smell of bleach gives the impression of cleanliness...
Pickled eggs, I remember all the pubs had them, vile things but not remembering price.
17p a pint in pub, 20p double (mince)burger supper with chips and onions, these were too good to give up.
Pomagne 20 odd pence a bottle..
loved it...

Cash in hand eh.
You must have been knee high to the grasshoppers back then. Pre council workdays!
Long days back then. Concrete oil rigs, landes on yer feet.

Maybe they didn't want you spreading southern ideas over the border. Down to Wigan, tha had more money than sense!

Only the impression, you failed in yer domestic duties. You'll be given extra.
Odd how the eggs cost more than a pint back then. Nearly every pub had them, up on a shelf in plain view.
Had yer liking for burgers back then even. How many you had since then?

Aye, mega moolah on that job.......
I'd the chance then to go to the big hole(s) in the ground at Portavadie or Kishorn but that life wasn't for me, months later I met the future Mrs Bob...
Boy, do I make mistakes:laugh:
Could have been a 10 pound Pom aged 11 as well.....
I guess it worked well

No failure, I did more domestic duties this morning...

Got a ticket through the door Sat from Royal mail, parcel/package with no postage, you need to pay £2.50 and pick it up.
My full moniker too so I wondered who?

£2.50 later, my medical practice with an advice leaflet..
not goodies a more don't do this change your lifestyle one..
wonder what it says about booze:laugh:

For just sticking records on a record player, aye...
You could have been a redcoat or a ten pound pom, and someone else made the decision for you. Don't think you'd have enjoyed Australia, too hot and dry, miles from your "next door" neighbour. Don't think they had a DJ shortage at the time.

No more than would be usual for a Monday morning?

Get your own back, send it back with no postage. That'll show 'em!

I take it you feel it wasn't worth what you spent, especially as you could have gone and picked one up for nowt, if required.
Booze: Give up or else...

Rest that toe, the rest might come out in sympathy, then what do you do?
Sit down, foot up and rest. It's the best you can do, remember RICE.

It was a booklet from the nurse but I'll not chase the fee..
No give up da booze...
I like my glass (of whatever).

I did work in the hotel trade..
I was LIAF and enjoyed my spell but couldn't see spending my life at it...
Jobs were aplenty in the early 70s, I tried a few..
I was good on a road roller.....
I suppose in the end, I was made for the council:whistle:

Off to count calories again, see if I can get a Nobbly Bobbly:laugh:

Its one way of making certain you got it though.
Who said anything about giving up da booze.
Have you tried just having the glass?

Weren't you in the kitchen, seconded to lift duty? You could have been the oldest lift boy if you'd stuck at it.
There might have been, but some were downright odd. Very few would argue with the driver of a road roller back then. What they were driving were big, slow and a fair bit of weight & power. If you upset the driver, you were stuck.
Never made management level, or considered it.

You'll fit the Nobbly Nobbly in, count the calories later.
