I just remembered that Stuttgart is on Google earth, so here's a picture of where I catch the tram:

I lock my bike to the fence, usually right next to the lamppost in the centre. by sheer coincidence a tram was passing: it is bright yellow and just visible left of the lamppost, you can see how steep the track is by the angle of the tram itself and how low it is compared to the road, which is level, by the way.

I could have gone on another tram route but I found that this line, being isolated from the rest of the system, is more reliable and I also found it quite incredibly cool to ride on a metre gauge funicular tram every day...

Some of the cities are viewable. I don't know why: perhaps made a compromise. We saw the car driving along our street some years ago but our town still isn't on streetview.

I thought I googled it in the past and due to numerous complaints I thought google pulled the plug on it?

It was here: there are a couple of quirks of the constitution which mean a citizen could sue Google under certain circumstances. I think the compromise may be that they blank out and private property if the owner or resident requests it.

The same constitutional basis is the reason you can't have CCTV or take candid pictures in the street here.

because the college is about 2km from the tram stop and 200m/600ft lower: it's a 25% hill. And attempts at traffic calming have produced a sort of 'natural selection of drivers in SUV's who feel they are entitled to drive through no entry signs and brush mere pedestrians and cyclists aside.

It is not a coincidence that the tram happens to be the only track tram in Germany.

Sounds like your avereage road, with regards drivers.

The trams you use have CCTV, as do the stations. Law changed just over a year ago.
