I don't think you could have done any more and the owner is responsible for training his dog!! FFS!I've had a horrible day. One of the dogs I walk got loose and ran away. I have spent 6 hours and 20 minutes looking for the little bugger when the owners came home and yelled at me. I called the Norwich and S. Norfolk dog wardens, I went in all the shops and asked, I went to the vet and drove to the local dog rescue place in case he'd been handed in. I walked miles and miles and miles looking and calling. I drove over 30 miles around and around looking. I called hubby to come and help and another dog walker pal of mine came to help. There were 4 of us looking on foot, bike and car at one point.
The little sod came back home twice and then ran off again when some person trying to be helpful made a grab and him and he ran hell for leather in the opposite direction. We left the garden gate open so he could get back in and through the dog flap. When the owners came home they shut the gate and refused to open it while they went to "look properly".
The man owner yelled that it was my fault that the dog has no road sense and that it was my fault that his dog isn't trained. It certainly isn't my fault that he hasn't trained his dog.
In the end I had to come home to get Ken to dialysis and our helping friend needed to get back for his insulin. Apparently I have now just deserted them for stupid reasons. I hate my job, I really really hate it.
