Sure am. Medically retired from work in 2008, got bored and went to college for 3 years.
My consultant tried to tell me to medically retire from work as my right wrist is so shagged. After a horrendous break and a really nasty heal its bloomin' useless. I can't get a job because as soon as I mention that I need a natural keyboard or the interviewer gets a look at the wrist that's the end of that. Its a funny shape, I hold it oddly, I don't have much movement with it and it hurts all the time.
I decided to go self employed, walk dogs and do a bit of dog grooming to keep the stupid wrist moving. I really don't want the hassle of claiming benefit then going to those ATOS meetings to be told that I can work and to get a job, go to interviews, get turned down etc etc. I probably don't make any more money walking than I would on benefit but it gets me out of the house every day.
My wrist is strapped up most of the time now. I'm having a rethink on the grooming side as its causing so much pain now. I got pulled about walking today too. This is why we started the nappy cake biz. I can always stuff a box with cuddly toys
I know that people work with one arm and with all sorts of disabilities so I felt a right fraud when the consultant told me that my working days were over and was determined that they were not over.
