The train fare would certainly help but TBH the tourist potential helped, its unique to the UK. I could see from Pen Y Pass and you can see how they thought of a choo choo to the top. I thought I'd walk to save money plus they wouldn't accept my bus pass

not at the moment. 2 people fell 1000 feetdown Snowdon on saturday. they were caught in a landslide and had to be rescued. Others turned back as they didnt realise how bad or deep the snow is on snowdon at the moment.

I stay off the hills in snow....but when it disappears

I can work into N.Wales from some hills on both 4m and 2m.....On a sunny day I just go until my battery pegs out.

Last time I was active on a low power portable contest I used an ft817, HB9CV, a 7Ah SLA with a 13w solar panel keeping the charge up.

I use a 2.1 ah 12v SLA...same radio. I fancied trying the contests but I prefer the relaxed SOTA...I like yapping...I use my 7ah SLA for powering my ATU light.
