I carry a handie with me most of the time, I worked a SOTA station to the N of me yesterday with no problem from sea level. I'm usually not too far from a high spot if I am out..I can rattle up a 3 ele yagi that I can get ready in a minute..I've a portable 5 ele one which breaks down to 1m in lengthGood for you, looks like a proper outfit altogether, 2 meter antenna will be a good addition, although it may bring problems mounting and dismounting, like a flag would. Unless you were to get one of those little front racks, and mount it there.
Good afternoon all
Dreich isn't the word for today
A cuppa will compensate, I'm sure
A bit more cheerier than the weatherAfternoon Bob. How are you this fine day?

Good to hearBack still, painful, but not as painful as yestersay, thanks for asking. Me, if I didn't have coffee I would go demented.

Getting yer butt to the top of a 'Marilyn' and making four contacts using ham radio....
A 'marilyn' is a category of a hill , like 'munro' ( just in case you dinna ken)

I've not been out this year yet due to transport problems but now Mrs has another car..I'll get going.
I'd cycle but after hauling myself and the gear then back down, I don't think I'd be able to cycle home
Snowdon is a 'marilyn'..I know what a munro is.

I was most impressed with the set up, it would fair put Ben Nevis's old ruins to shame. And they have a nice new cafe at the top instead of that pile of doo doo that was there

The surprising thing was the prices, very reasonable....and friendly staff.
Now if it was the Lake District?
There was a group of local schoolkids who sang/belted out 'Land of my Fathers' just below the trig point at the summit, it made the trip for me...
