I'm taking a break from cycle chat, probably permanently. I have always been wary of internet chat rooms and swore blind I'd never join one. @Rickshaw Phil encouraged me to join this one and I used to enjoy it as it was lighthearted fun, but recently it had become nothing more than arguments and drivel on most threads and I have far more important things going on in my life at the moment which puts things into perspective. Happy cycling to the friendly ones that are left on here

Really sorry you've decided to do that Gav. I can't disagree with your reasoning though - I've been avoiding certain threads because they've either been taking things too far (taking off door mirrors anyone?) or just descending into slanging matches (the same sets of names seem to crop up in these I notice).

Easiest thing to do is not read all threads. If i see something that really irks me, i usually write it out, and then read it back to myself BEFORE sending. 50% of the time, i don't post it. Not worth getting angry or frustrated over a strangers point of view

I agree. I saw that thread and thought it was appalling? You should never advocate doimg something like that. There are right and wrongs on both sides and there is never an easy or simple answer. Good luck Gav. I wish you and your family better times.

Good. Glad to hear it. To be honest There are people being quite nasty. There are some who are using certain threads to attack members they do not like. here there is a large and very diverse number of people. If you cant find a way to get on with someone then you can A) put them on ignore or B) just pretend they arn't there. people seem to be very catty lately and not in a nice way.
