I used to drive 50 miles per day to newtown and back for work. Sometimes the snow was so bad I couldn't get there. They would comlain by saying well, it's not snowing here. Are you sure it's snowing where you are. ?
One of the blokes I worked with in Nottingham lived in the sticks in Derbyshire. Got to the stage where the poor bloke had to bring photos in as proof that he was snowed in.

My Nan used to get that problem when she was teaching at a village school about 7 miles out of town.
In the famous winter of 1963 when the drifts were up to the tops of the hedges of the lanes she phoned in to the council offices to state she couldn't get, and got the response; "Well, there's no snow here".

I've always wanted to get snowed in and not have to go to work. Every time I move house, it seems to happen the year after I've left!
Been snowed in at Ullapool though at Christmas a few years back
I have been snowed in 3 times in the last 5 years. Only lasted for 2 days at the longest. It was fun but then had to live with the stuff hanging around for weeks. Yuck !

Snow is beautiful for the first 2-3 days then it just gets to be a real pain. I wish it was either a guaranteed get snowed in winter so we can be prepared for the long haul or guaranteed no snow.

Planning your commutes is a nightmare if it snows you spend more time getting to work than you do actually working.
My commute is walking down stairs, cant get out of that one
