I had to stare at that for a long long long time, then the coffee kicked in and I noticed, is there a reason why that area above others has a much more worn appearance? Or is it just unfortunate the fabric was sub-standard in that place?

It wasn't a very clear photograph. It was taken with my phone in a gloomy room. (I tried using the flash, but the glare made the picture worse.) In real life, the transparency was pretty obvious.

I think the main problem was that my legs were large at the time, with a lot of fat on top of big muscles, so they would have been rubbing together as I pedalled!

Summer - plenty of hot days in between all the apocalyptic ones to dry my washing. Winter - heating on, dried on radiator. Autumn - same as now, lots of will it, won't it, damn it did.

Grey clouds gave way to pale ones and bursts of so decided to take a risk. Machine due to finish the load in ten minutes. Guess what?
