If you recall, I rode SITD 2012 on a (non-compact) double and I didn't have any problems ...

... except for having to walk a couple of the steepest sections ...

... and my right leg exploding in Keighley!

I was thinking about getting a compact last year .............. then I rememberd that I am and old b****** and decided I better not.
At one time, I was comfortable doing 20% climbs on that double-equipped bike but then I got older, fatter, unfitter and, er, sicker! It would probably make sense to put a compact chainset on it now, but I'll see what kind of fitness level I can't get to before making the decision.

Mine's a compact. If I was buying it again, I'd get a triple.

I would need to try a compact to make my mind up.

Before xmas I hardley ever used my Granny ring, but as I have not been cycling much I seem to be in it on just about every hill at the moment so I guess when my hill climbing legs return I could probably make do but I do love my Triple

Triples rule on all my bikes. Wish I'd discovered them many years before I did

Rubble, eh? Some people have all the fun
Sunny here too - I think it's finally time to brave the outside world.
My Carbon Uberbike will be thinking I don't love it any more...
