My skills in crochet are limited to making squares. As mentionned before, I am using up all the oddments of double knit wool to do a blanket.

I hope NT and Arch are watching BBC2 - it's a programme about the Flying Scotsman

We watched it last night, a good programme

I might try what I thought of earlier, 50 stitches, and decrease every five stitches, then every four stitches, three etc. then join up the two ends.

I think that's what I'd do too, just easier than using double ended needles, especially for relatively small pieces.

Well done Gromit! I hope you can defer them for a bit, but whatever, you got the job!:bravo:

I have more :cuppa:, and I'm tucked up in bed.

Scary how much money it costs to run one of those engines . I don't think I'll buy one.....

Very true. I work in engineering so they appeal to my inquisitive, how does it work, mind. Back then they had to design and make from scratch, nowadays there are blueprints for just about everything all we have to do is tweak to suit our needs.

My gran was brilliant at needle work. She made us 2 girls some really amazing stuff when we were kids. Her skill has not been passed on.... I can sow on a button but it takes time

Scotsman has pretty much bankrupted two or three millionaires, and then the NRM bought her 'for the nation' - just before the big crash...

She's cursed, I tell 'ee....

But it's funny, people seem to have this affection/love for her, people who are too young to have ever seen steam in regular use, people with no idea about how they work or anything. She's like the Princess Diana of the railway world.
