Luckily it's not cold here in the South East of Englandshire, but it's bloody wet. Today is a day for travelling a couple of extra train stops closer to work. Though this wet weather is meant to clear by about 8am and meant to be nice the rest of the day.

Supposed to last till lunch time for us and it feels cold, especially when the train doors open 🥶 Tonight is supposed to be warmer at 14deg though.

So, just checking the facts and figures.
This mornings ride was rainy commute #8 for the year. The last rainy commute being way back on the 24th February.
Last year in comparison I had 16 rainy commutes.
So a very dry year so far.

Very close pass this morning, caught up with the driver as he turned right into his carpark. Followed him in and had a surprisngly civil conversation and an apology.

Worryingly, got the distinct impression that not only had he not realised how close he was, he hadn't even noticed passing me at all...

Back on the Brompton this week although thankfully from within the city - the problem child's upright position, snappy gearshifts and familar battle-proven functionality being prefereable for the commute over the lovely-but-lacking Fuji.

Yesterday was bright and cold, this morning overcast with a hint of rain but thankfully a bit warmer. On both days I've arisen at a leisurely pace (being able to get up half an hour later with fewer variables / complictating factors separating me from the workplace) and have ridden into town for sausages before coming out again to work.

I've done a few of the main aterial roads into the city and it's a pleasant surprise to find them pretty empty; probably because I've reached them a good half-hour before the 9am crush... either that or the ring road is so gridlocked that it's limiting the rate at which traffic reachers the city itself. Regardless, I'm not complaining and very happy to finally have no part to play in the hateful commuter traffic.

Last night I left work and headed in completely the wrong direction; having a bit of a waft in / around town before stopping for a tired but reasonably rewarding session on the rings.

The flat's just-about liveable-in (I now have a toaster and curtains!) and am so far very much appreciating my first proper week of city-based commuting

Rode to work early as I was picking the new car up, went across to the services to put a little petrol in and get some dinner. The new car I can get the bike in without taking the wheel off with the seats down so I will drive home tonight

When I was considering buying a new car I rode my bike to the dealer and laid the bike in the back of my first choice vehicle to be sure I could load it with the tail gate up and rear seats down without taking any wheels off. I bought it; a VW Tiguan.

As I work at a certain manufacturer I got a corrolla estate for peanuts

A surprisingly fast commute tonight. Firstly because as I was crawling through town I realised my varia wasn't paired with my head unit. As a result I turned left on a urban dual carriageway with the majority of the traffic on it. that leads me to a lot of parked up roads with no safe passing points so I took the primary at speed in a lot of places. Then I realised I might catch a local chaingang and whilst I couldn't have went out in any of the faster groups with a heavy laptop and commuting gear, I thought I might help lead out the beginners. So I went faster again. Lol, there's usually 3 or 4 groups of 10 + riders, tonight there was only one. He was keen for me to drop off the back pack and join him but I made my excuses as I had a training session to do. After I finished the session I found out why he was solo, it had turned torrential again.

It was dry at this point and a nice empty train as I'd caught an early one:
