As long as I breathe, I attack.
RIP my Specialized Radiant gloves. I put them into semi retirement when I moved down south and only used them on the coldest days but after getting chemo induced Reynolds I put them back into action and they were ideal. Most waterproof gloves Ive had and warm. There marginally too thick but the Thinsulate stopped them from being overly so. On the main part of my commute the thumb stitch which had been open for a while opened up fully 😭

Last week might have been the first full dry week. I'm sure it was the first full week I've ridden every day without a wet ride since last summer.

This morning grey but otherwise unremarkable. Sadly the forecast for tomorrow is back to the wet stuff.

As you didn’t get the drivers name this will be a case that will follow the provisions of the Untraced Drivers Agreement 2017.

Technically a claim can still be made even if it was a hit and run and you didn’t have any details/photos.

Likewise, it is still possible to make a claim even if the person is identified and uninsured.

. Sadly the forecast for tomorrow is back to the wet stuff.

It was very wet, so wet, my boots and panniers were clean due to the amount of water on the ground !

Got in the office, and the 'Estates' Team have removed all heaters - so that's my clothes drying source gone. Packed my gear into a carrier bag, walked to other side of building, signed for a store room key, walked to other side of building, opened store, and there was the drying cabinet. Someone's gear was in already, but looking at who had signed in, the stuff had been in a while, and stunk of chemicals (not cyclists gear - probably motor biker). If the kit is still there tonight, I'll pop it on the top as it will just get too hot. That's one of the reasons I stopped using the cabinet - pain to access and usually full of a smoker's gear, or smelly kit.

When it's this wet I take the short route in - 3miles of Manchester's new Bee Network of cycle lanes. So ineptly built that the drains aren't even at the lowest point so large puddles form wherever there's a random dip. Not to mention the puddles that form because the drains block.

For puddles read lakes.

Unlucky. Three of us had the misfortune of using the Facilities up Withington Road from Chorlton upto Hulme on New Year's Day - terrible. Big raised curbs, loads of debris and like riding down a chicane. We avoided the new cyclops junction and just turned right like a car would.

I use Alexandra Road on my commute, nice and wide and just a bit of paint for a cycle lane.

A grotty centenary for the Brompton this morning.

My 100th two-wheeled commute began with unexpected rain; at least awakening two hours earlier than planned gave me time to confirm that it wasn't going to get any better and don the necessary gear before leaving the house, rather than hurridly in the wet after parking the car.

The car-section was blighted by a mile-ish long tailback to the Woodstock roundabout; thankfully this was spotted just in time for me to pull into a layby, turn around and take an alternative route.

Once parked and the bike unfurled I found my Polar head unit to be dead; thankfully only because I'd evidently failed to turn it off properly last night and killed the battery.

I had the pleasure of fairly heavy, constant rain and a reasonable headwind throughout. Stopped at the butchers and was asked not to bring my bike in when it's wet because it drips on the floor - unfortunate but a fair point and something else to feel guilty about

Got to the office in good time, somewhat damp as the water had once more found its way through the zip of my coat onto my chest and bizarrely through the left inside elbow.. lower half was also a bit damp but granted the "waterproofs" kept the worst off and I'd have been soaked to the skin without them.

The office is now festooned with various damp garments in the vain hope that they'll be dry before I have to make the return leg. Would definitely rather have stayed in bed today..

Drying plans have meant my boots and waterproofs will be dried by a little USB fan - the cable is just long enough to run off a monitor USB socket to a storage box on the floor, where it can blow air over the stuff I can't leave in the drying cupboard - certainly not leaving expensive shoes in there.

Instant Karma is a wonderful thing:
Driver coming in opposite direction accelerated sharply and deliberately drove towards a puddle to soak the poor pedestrians.
However, he over-steered/aquaplaned and lost traction - ended up hitting the kerb, shredding his front tyre and buckling his rim.
