I'll be there, with circa 3 hours to kill tomorrow afternoon (ETA 14:30)
I'm taking senior management down as she's doing some consultancy work at a local Hospital, so I'm earning Brownie Points, as she can sit in the back with her laptop on return journey, & have the work finished by the time we get home

So can anyone recommend something for me to do, whilst she's in the meetings?

I've been before a couple of times
The first time, I drove over to Newark for a walk round there
The second time, I drove through it, & on to Kirkby-in-Ashfield.
Crikey, it makes Castleford look like Shangri-La!!

I'd have suggested Papplewick Pumping Station but it's only open weekends and both Hardwick Hall and the DH Lawrence visitor centre are shut.

Makes Cas Vegas look exciting. Can't think of anywhere else that does

Southwell Minster is* open, and is worth a look if you like big Norman churches. There are some lovely houses in the town too - it's a very pleasant place for a mooch.

*Was a few weeks ago. 11 till 3, I think.

I'll have the relevant OS sheet with me (Mansfield & Worksop), so might have a pootle down to Southwell, or maybe just straight to Newark
I can pick up, & photograph on the sections of the 'Great North Road' to the south of the town then (that I've not been on)
(I have 3 albums of 'GNR' images on my FB pages - 100 in each & a 4th in progress)

On my first visit, I walked round Kings Mill Reservoir, & to the old railway bridge at the eastern end
Then again, I could head west to Ripley, & have a nosey at the Midland Railway Centre

I decided to driver over to Newark

Newark starts at '5'

I drove through Southwell, on my return from Newark, but was running a bit late, due to traffic at Newark, so didn't stop
(Saracens Head, is '15')
The WorkHouse looks magnificent now, but a wholely different place in its day, no doubt
The (now) lawns would have been the gardens for growing food?
